Yep. This is why I've been using overdrive pedals and boosting mids. It's a little weird to eq my bass to sound more like a guitar, but sometimes that's what you need to do to be heard.

I dig that tone. Playing an octave down guitar of sorts. That's why I prefer short scales and the bass vi. It's also helpful from a writing standpoint to me because I get an ear for what a bass and guitar part might be like.

Thanks! The guy who voiced him was my aunts neighbor from like the late 90's until she moved. Very reclusive and had a big teepee in his yard. Badass house though.

What behringer synth is that? Was only the octave tracking lacking or overall tracking sucked.

I should just get the behringer synth, slow motion and their oc-3 clone probably. I just prefer the metal enclosure of the boss/Digitech.

Bsy600. I need to get an expression pedal for it to really open it up. The digitech was pretty glitchy. But, metal housing versus plastic behringer. And then all the horror stories of behringer since it started being a company. They have gotten some bad word of mouth. That said, my three behringer pedals have worked without issue. The oldest for four years now.

I think some of those old SS sunn amps are a little louder then they are rated. The beta bass I'm useing is pretty loud.

Oh it's loud stuff. But you'd think a pair of old sunn 2x15's and 200 watt head (plus slave) wouldn't compete let alone trample over multiple svt rigs and a 16 15's.

I've been fighting strings for a while and these are the gage I've used (not circle k) also note this is drop B


White P-bass
.135 .95 .75 .55 (ghs)

Ibanez
.125 .95 .75 .55 (ghs)

Black p bass
.120 .90 .67 .50 (daddario)

Of all those basses the black p is now the main bass.

When we tracked our EP I used my '74 with a light gage set of round like 100-45 from dunlop, it's slayed!

I decided to put lighter stings on the black p since I thought the stings on both the old bassss were too tight and too boomy.
Not light enough with the .120 set.
Been kinda bummed since I got it done and after the last couple shows.
It it now wearing a set of old blue steels around a .105 set.
It sounds killer and almost like it better then my '74.
So it's a question of the tone your after.
Do you like nasty cut and light tension or boom with tight tension?

A little big IMO. I have these on the RB650 right now and are doing well. Just remember they are taper core so you will have to tweak the setup for them.

I'm waiting for the glue to cure on the ATK string ferrule that keeps popping. It's glued and clamped this time. 24 hours from now will be placing a new D'Addario set I picked up at Guitar Workshop in Sacramento this morning. Needed to check their shop out and it was on my way home from dropping the girl off at Grandmas for the week. Totally blown away at the amount of new hardware he had on premise. May take the Lumi to him for a re fret.

Depends on the venue and or act. I was impressed by Celtic Frost and Triptykon still touring with the same sound man from back in the day. He knows what the band should sound like and it's his job to lay that down. House engineer needs to know and care how the material should be presented. Plus in many cases the openers don't get to sound check.

I think I've got a 130 on my 5 string. I had a 135 on my 4 string warlock tuned BEAD but the neck didn't like it too much. Super thin shredder neck couldn't handle the extra tension.

Doesn't the G string actually have the highest amount of tension on the neck and stringing a 4 banger BEAD really have no increased tension?

I already plan on taking the bass to my local shop to have the nut modified. I use a .124 for Drop C/DGCF so I think the .136 set should work just fine.

I'm throwing a .132 d'addario chrome 5er set on that ibanez roadstar for bead.

I don't experiment with strings too expensive/perishable, but I find the lower tension of a short scale leads to some boom detuned, and the higher tension full scale had more twang and growl. Granted I've never dealt with a b string before this is all E-D tuning I'm talking about...

Yea G is very tight. B tuning is overall lower tension than E tuning so bigger strings reduce the potential for flop in the string and flub or fret clacking being picked up.
