Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Damn it, DMN's post got me thinking about my old Sunn again. Did a little google search and was able to find the former friend that disappeared with it. Turns out he's living 3 or 4 hours from here and has his own business. Figured 'what the hell' and shot him an email. Maybe, just maybe I'll be reunited with my old Sunn friend after nearly a decade. I also lost a vintage Fender 2x12 cab, a poopy solid state Kustom guitar head, a black russian big muff, a DOD 670 flanger and a Ross Distortion/Phaser. Not holding my breath but who knows...

So, I was moseying around in GC one afternoon, and was kind of having to maneuver around this guy in the used guitar section, when he walks past me, looks at me and stops. I think "Why do I know this guy?"
Turns out it's an old co-worker of mine, very cool dude, who I haven't seen in years.
We ended up sitting there and chewing the fat for about an hour catching up. Seems like he retired and really got back into playing guitar a lot. We swapped cell numbers, and I think I'm going to see if he wants to do some jamming.

I'm in the opposite situation people keep leaving stuff with me and never taking it back. Some stuff like a free ps3 is cool, but I really don't need my friends crate solid state half stack or the whips and swords he randomly brought over when I asked to use a nail gun.

I know aside from joe you guys probably don't flip on craigslist nearly as much as me, but do you get hassled by friends to help them sell crap?

I think my friends and some family got it in there heads I'm like antique roadshow/pawn stars out of my living room. They'll bring stuff and ask me what it's worth and get mad when I can't answer.

True story: my friend shows up with a porcelain elephant and wants to know exactly what he'll get for it and how long that would take to sell?!?

People also ask my opinion about flipping stuff themselves... I always say it's a good idea if you find promising stuff or a niche, do the research and try and see. They then get pissy that I didn't simply say "yes go do it, I guarantee you'll be rich in like 5 seconds!"

My moms friends son asked me how to get into refinishing boats and flipping them lol. I don't own a boat man, never have, so first steps probably ask anyone but me.

Hell. Help me sell some basses.

Oh man, I was looking at Carvin tube amps on their site and they have the Carvin Channel link for youtube. Well youtube is blocked at my work but if I go through the Carvin Channel then I can get in. I don't sit and watch it at work but I like to listen to music on it to listen to bands not on bandcamp. Thank you Carvin for bringing youtube back to me lol.

So I couple black geddy jazz's popped up on Cl and I've been GASing hard for a jazz for awhile and I wondering if anyone had one and also I wanted to know if the Mexicans are the same quality as the Japanese or if I should just hold off till I find a CiJ version?
I played a Geddy Lee at Sam Ash over the weekend. It was way heavier than I thought it would be when I picked it up. Nice build quality, but someone had the action so low you couldn't even get a note to ring out, it would just fret out instantly, so no clue how they sound.

My gear nerd friend sells gear for me on eBay, but he offers. So kinda different situation. But if it come to Craigslist he hates it and I do his craigslist stuff if any. We are weirdos :)

I don't mind helping, but most of my friends don't play. So the stuff they bring over isn't gear. And I don't mind helping for a fee, but that's based on if I deem it worthy. I'm not gonna keep your $30 woman's huffy in my house for three years while you refuse to sell for less than $200...

I also offer to help show them how to use craigslist and set them up, but they really don't care to. Most are too lazy or afraid of dealing with strangers and admit to it once we get going so I can officially say I've never converted a person to use it.

Hell. Help me sell some basses.

What issue/s you having?
