. I had a Fender (Hartfield) MB4 with a reverse P with jazz bridge. It was passive and sounded good for modern tones but not for normal P tones to me IMHO.
Good to know. Might have to rethink the reverse then.
Or pick up a NG-2 once they hit the used market.
I'll be honest, the buzzing really irks me and keeps me from "loving" it more. The stock bridge is the drizzling shizzits. Did you end up replacing yours?
Not yet, I need to buy the mim jazz master trem and a new bridge. There's a guy in town on craigslist selling a squier jag with the mastery bridge and the stock bridge, I'm trying to get him to sell me the mastery but he's being difficult.
Also pretty sure gun for guitar dude got cold feet, he texted me at 6am saying he got robbed and needs to keep it...

Well I have not driven the PI into distortion yet so honestly probably very little compared to any other PI before distortion. If this was a real deal SVT type amp I would have used the Williamson (2 12au7s, 1 for cathodyne 1 for added drivers) for the most ideal phase inverter (best balance, most drive) but since Corey's tastes are not in line with that idea the regular LTPI is a better idea. Honestly sounds really good for a bass amp and guitar amp.
Yeah, earlier than MkIV they use a passive tone stack, I don't know of any specific way to tell them apart other than looking at the plate with the model name on the back. They probably have some aesthetic differences, but I'm not aware of what they are. I've heard people say they don't like the active ones, but I found it incredibly useful to have an active mid control in an amp like that. Plus, you could just dime everything out for maximum gain. I had occasionally used a setup with mine where I dimed all the controls, jumped channels, ran a clean boost into it and used a graphic eq to adjust the tone.
Possibly, but I also live in an area where we get fresh fish easily. The Monterey Bay is a fishing area and being on the west coast in general. I've also only had a messed up sense of smell since high school and I've loved weird sharp cheeses since I was a little kid.
So for the tube enthusiasts on here. Do you look for amps with certain power amp tubes(6L6, KT88, etc.) or the overall amp in general?
