Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

hahaha. That does help. I like bass. I always try to play guitar. I never practice enough to get used to the string spacing. So this should be a good compromise. Play guitar on this Rocksmith game with a nice scale length and fat strings. Plus low tuning and fuzz on my bass rig... Should be pretty sick. Maybe in a few months I can find a drummer and you know... duo-diddly-doom-di-do

whats the point of a band bio anyways? cant people just listen to the music and like it or not?

band bios are the worst. the only way to make them not horrible is to make them a joke, and even that is kinda played out. why do you need one anyways?
I find most bands use it to wank themselves and talk about their music like its a revolutionary soundscape. Ironically, most of those types of bios are from metalcore bands.

Back in high school I played in a band and we entered into a local Battle of the Bands. We had to write a max 50 word bio about our band and style. I thought it would be funny to write "Ever wanted to know what Napalm Death covering Phil Collins would sound like? No? Too bad".

We didn't sound like either.

We were 15.

Depends who's singing. If it's Barney, then yes.

I play finger style on the bass vi fine, and play my acoustic guitar that way too pretty often. When my dually gets fixed, hopefully I'll get this bass vi fixed back up too (it's clean!). Then I can drop by while I'm in Austin and let you try them things. I owe deth a visit/tryout too soon as stuffs squared away.

For sure man. That would be awesome! I really want to try out a dually.

nighty night fellers

Man, I've only just realised that I haven't GAS'd over anything in a few weeks. Flipped a couple pedals, have the dosh but I just can't think of anything I really want to add to my sound right now. The RBI fell through a few weeks back, comps and preamp pedals ain't doing anything for me anymore, got over my Chorus and reverb phases and decided that my SWR head sounds too good to flip (despite lacking in power). I dare say I'm fairly happy with my setup right now.

Help me guys. Do what TB does best and make me want poopie I don't need.

Just typed this up to send to a friend. Figured I'd share.

Salsa verde
A dozen tomatilos
2-3 onions
3-4 garlic cloves
One big jalapeno & either 2-3 serrano or ancho peppers
Chop it into pieces
Don’t kill yourself cutting into small pieces its going in a blender
Put it in a pot
With salt
Cook it down on medium
Throw 2-3 limes worth of juice in a blender
Throw in the top half of a bunch of cilantro too
Throw in all the stuff from the pot
Blend
Eat

If it needs more heat just throw another pepper in the blender
If it needs less heat… suck it up, eat it, and put in less peppers next time.

For band camp use I guess. Its written for the most part now anyway. Has anyone done long distance craigslist buys with shipping involved?? I'm getting cold feet.

Yes, I got my MIJ Epi ET288 from a dude from Denver. No PP, too, I had to send a money order. I was nervous as he'll but took a chance and it paid off. Been using that axe at recent gigs; fun to play.

Which Sunn?

Not entirely sure. I actually played through it a number of years back, before I owned any of my own Sunn. It's not in the best condition if I recall, but the guy I talked to (a guitarist I know) said the guy was selling it dirt cheap, mostly just wanted to get rid of it. It's a 60w with verb and trem, either a Sceptre or a Sentura. Then I could have the Big Boy rig (2000s+2x15/1200s+2x15) and the Kiddie rig (200s+1x15/Sceptre+1x15).

Those are nice amps - I had a Sentura II for a long time - loud as balls for "only" being 60W. Probably not DOOM LOUD, but still very nice amps. Mine was stolen by a 'friend' who up and disappeared. That was ten years ago - still think about that amp a lot.
