Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Doing more than that in any one town is kinda... I dunno, feels like oversaturating a particular area. We try to rotate around which parts of the bay area we're playing.
Indeed. The other closest place to play is San Antonio which is hr to hr 1/2 drive. Those patrons can be brutal. Then everywhere else is 3hrs out. At least Austin has a ton of clubs.

Fixed
Edit:

LOL Pretty much. My own rescue dog uses under the house instead of her coup and she's a killer so I am pretty safe. But I am lucky to have 18 inches of crawl space and less in spots so you have to shovel as you go. And some stumpjumper used too long a nail on the floor in the kitchen to it is like an Al Qaeda training camp under there.

Jeff Parker the guitarist for Tortoise uses a Musicman combo so I already got hankering for one, this thread is making it worse.

My first tube guitar amp was a musicman combo. A 2x12, kind of similar to a fender twin. I got rid of it because I couldn't get loud enough and wanted a head and 4x12, but now I wish I still had it.

I think Corey said that he used to have one of those Behringer heads, too. I almost picked one up at pawn America for $40, but then i saw a BF2 for $30 and got that instead.

I didn't own it, but I used it for practice for a year and recorded with it. Along with my DOD 250. Worked great and plenty loud, I give em a good recommendation any day.

Sun City in Georgetown bro

I got ugly arse orange power chords running in my house and out to the well pump because I need more outlets and need to replace one main wire to the pump house. I have to crawl under my house to run them. Waiting for fall so it's less hot and varminty under my house.

You got a gun bro, I suggest you take some lsd watch apocalypse now it platoon, then go play tunnel rat!

New Sleep track is available for vinyl preorder. $15 for a 12" with 10 minutes of music and an etched B-side. I think I'll pass.

Super lame, what a ripoff and the worst part is that they'll sell out in 10 minutes...like I said doom fans are getting so gullible, especially when it comes to vinyl.

Condolences Janitor.

But you run it through a real PA? Most bars here have sshhiittyy systems not meant for real music.
Excellent point. I'm spoiled at my current gig. 3 QSC amps, 7 QSC speakers, Numark mixer and a Really nice Mac to run PCDJ. Plus a second PC to screw around on while I'm working.

Spent some time reading threads in Band Management. I do not want to be in a band now, LOL.
That place is where my cover band disdain was forged into contempt.

Sartori there aren't many basements in south Texas. Poor soil, being below sea level and and tropical storms/flash floods don't mix well with basements. Two car garages and detached workshops are super common however.

In Austin where my parents live less than a foot down is solid lime stone basically. A pool is crazy expensive, putting 1/3 of a house underground is inconceivable on the standard house in a subdivision. Also no tornaders.

If only they were gullible enough to buy my band's vinyl and cassettes. :p

In all seriousness, I'd buy a new Sleep album on vinyl.

Not one song though, screw that. They should at least have put a live version of Antarcticans Thawed on the B-side.

The house I grew up in is on a flat island in eastern part of the SF bay, that has crappy, sandy soil, and a water table too high for there to be a cemetery on the island. Pretty sure all the houses on my block have basements, though. Maybe it's because they're old, though. And no tropical storms, heh.

Basements are useful in places with tornadoes, but it's not as if they're only found in areas that get them.

I've noticed that in most of the houses I've seen that are the same age as my parents', the basement, if it hasn't been remodeled, doesn't really have finished interior walls, just the outside wall and the frame, and there's no real ceiling, just the beams and floor boards of the story above. Not really a third of the house, as it's not like the rest of the house would be taller if there were no basement.

Oddly, I seem to know a lot more people with useful basements than with useful attics.

Man so much for being motivated on a Saturday morning. Been wanting to fix my Forever bass as the pot never work when I switched from 250k to 500k pots. I figured I jazzed it up with the extra wire I left or a cold solder. Everything looked good so I swapped the 47 for the cap and buttoned it back up. Still nothing when I turn the pot. Then I remembered that was the pot I bought from my local Mom and Pops and they sold me a used pot which I didn't know at the time. So now I need a new pot lol. So that was wasted effort. Then I figure well I will run up to 7/11 for a coffee and a donut for the little guy. Get out of my car and the lid pops off the coffee and about a 1/4 of the cup goes flying all over the car. Yeah fucc motivation. Only saving face I got is I won who can harass who more at dinner last night. Joe score 1, Micah's nose score 0!
