Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Howdy fellers, spent last night going through the last of my mother-in-law's things. Donated her clothes to the catholic nursing home where she was staying, loaded up the hyundai with the rest, drove it back to Madison and into storage. My wife didn't think she'd be able to do it, which is understandable. Wasn't exactly easy for me either, but it's done.

Tonight hopefully I can get some more moving of our stuff done. Might have to go to Baton Rouge for a work trip next week, which is going to eat into our moving time. We still have the rest of the month, but I'm starting to feel the pressure. Just want to get poopie done.

Good stuff, makes me want to start an instrumental band.

I love me some punk rock.

I always put what I want in quotes and add band at the end like this, "The Summer's End" band. If one exists, you'll find it.

thank you, well it seems that summer's end is out, but new day druids seems to still be good, hopefully nobody will want to call their band that in the next month before the eyeforsound event, it seems that the punk rock cult nation of ulysses halloween theme is getting mixed in with my metal stuff

Our first car was a 2-door black 1992 Ford Ranger, we called her Subtle Hustle. Also owned a 2002 Ford Focus hatchback. Both were fun little cars to drive but in the end we needed something bigger. Went with a Chevy Malibu and I hated it. Always had issues and needed repairs. We drove it to the ground though and last year got a Toyota Venza. So far so good.

I had a month to move just a few streets over and took 30/31 days to do it and told you would be slow too lol. You move all the awesome stuff first that's the problem. Then your faced with the trip to go get all the little things like pencils, papers, the lamp you never see yourself using again and it's just a drag to go pick them up.

Also for me I had the AC off, so that apartment was like an oven in between 12-8pm.

Ok I listened to monolord empress rising again. And I've been thinking about the recent talk of rehashing/electric wizard/other band copying and that they were throwN in that category.

Personally I've probably not delved as deeply into the genres as some so maybe that's why, I thought they sounded more like sleepy OM with those vocals, and just added guitar. Maybe I'm not making the comparisons well, but I've never heard anyone sound quite like EW. Lotta sabbath worship out of the lighter retro rock, but it just depends.

I think a big part from me is a really focus on vocals even if I can't understand what's being said. So I think I hear the vocalists naturally unique voice and miss any cookie cutter riffage.

You never had a car prior to getting married? I guess Canada did have better public transportation.

Texas or probably the whole US save a few metropolitan areas like NYC are soooo not public transportation friendly or even great about having sidewalks everywhere. Not having a car in the places I have lived would have been nearly impossible.

Nice, that with a black pickguard is my favorite look for a P bass. Slap that vintage Dimarzio pickup in there and it's my ideal setup. When I bought my P bass I wanted sunburst with a maple board and I was gonna change the guard to black, but the black/rosewood model I have was the best playing model in the store, so I went with functionality over my preferred look. I still want to do a parts build for that configuration though.
