Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Soon as I read this, Dave Matthews band started playing in big lots
One of my uber-hippy friend's, her sister was engaged to Dave Matthews before he got famous. She is that super duper sweet gentle type that never says a bad word about anyone except when a DMB song would come on the radio and then she would just get all pissed and go off about him being a prick LOL.

LOL...no, I don't want to play actual blues lawyer music. I mean like a sludge or powerviolence band. Totally tongue in cheek lyrics and song titles like "coffee table bass", etc.
Ahh, track names.
$1000 Overdrive
Vintage or Die
I Wish I could Play Fingerstyle Blues

What is love, baby boutique me baby boutique me, I'll pay

I can imagine some AxCx style song happening, a small break with some words talked out. Maybe, "Jaco only needed four strings". Followed by gnarly ass, screaming grind vocals.

It all has to be TB cliche stuff like, "I only need IEMs", "flats are king", "get your microphone away from my rig", and "I relic by use". You know, blues lawyer speak.

I knew they were jackoffs when they dumped the poopie off the bridge. Ha! It hit tourists on a boat ride. Can you imagine? All those dudes eating like poopie on the road, then dumping it on people that are like looking all over (probably with their mouth open in amazement at all the sites)... BAM! That will ruin your day.

When I lived in PA they played at Scranton University and he made a chick run all over town to get him FN Grey Poupon. She was on the university radio channel and went off about it LOL.

@Ron Now
Miserable is a solid album.
It's been interesting listening to it through different speakers. My work vehicle over Bluetooth is just about pitiful. Really no definition to your bass. Whereas my car via Line-In with a subwoofer is fantastic. Can't really decide if it's the crappy speakers or Bluetooth killing the clarity. My money is on Bluetooth.

Stock car systems blow huge balls. I use bluetooth with my phone/car stereo and have no low-end probs. BT is definitely ok for streaming music. Maybe not FLAC, or lossless formats, but definitely OK for mp3's and such.

So are these like super custom one off weird things? Or just a insanely expensive tort like a real damn tortoise?

My custom squier bass vi pickguard in not common at all red pearl was between $40-$60 I'm pretty sure. That hurt, but it's totally understandable and special (and Troy Neagle on talkbass out of Austin makes great stuff!).

I've been following Spitfire ever since he started up over on Offset Guitars. They are all custom one of guard made into a few categories and are about the damn closest you'll ever get to a vintage 60s style tort guard. They aren't printed, he actually swirls the mixture of some sort to get a unique pattern on each one. I'd love to get my hands on one, but $175 is a little steep. I mean, I get the price given the time and effort he puts into each one, but at the moment I don't have that money for just a pick guard. Maybe as a Christmas present to myself one day.

But that guy that started the thread is a total wank stain. The customer is always right is totally bunk, but even if it were true, he has acted entirely inappropriately. At first I thought it might just be a really sour experience, which I know can happen, and there are 3 sides to every story, but after reading Spitfires response and then reading the guys follow up post, I have no sympathy for him. He straight up blackmails Spitfire in an open forum, it's ridiculous.

Bluetooth isn't going to degrade your audio signal, it's digital. All or nothing.
+1

Always go for the stereo upgrade on cars. I can't handle music in my wife's CRV because of the poopy stock radio. The system in my Mazda 6, sounds great for what I want it to do. I'd get a sub if I didn't have to worry about hauling all these big ass cabs ;)
