Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yo. So the cafeteria here makes pork green chili from scratch every day. It's damn good. Friday is tater tots. The crispy starch mixed with the spicy slop is the right balance and cheap enough to eat everyday. Plus, extremely filling. So much so, I'm having a soda for lunch. Not going to force myself to eat when I'm not hungry.

I make this type of meal at home (with this really great vegetarian green chili) on Sunday, but I make a scramble and homemade taters. Hope y'all don't get too hungry looking at this.

92, I was 10. I was mainly stuck listening to whatever the adults were listening to. Two years later, I bought the CD that would change my musical direction for years to come. NOFX Ribbed. I had heard punk before (my teenaged uncle who lived with us, listened to circle jerks, exploited, and stuff like that when I was real young, but it was always more just background noise). I wasn't a punk rocker until junior high when I met other people that listened to it. I recognized the NOFX shirt a kid was wearing. Hell, my mom was trying to buy me looney toon t-shirts and that kinda stuff at that time. My coolest shirt was a Phoenix Suns t-shirt. I was a total nerd that liked football, marvel and image comics (fvck that DC shite), and I just started playing the bass. My first song was anarchy in the uk. I haven't played it in a long ass time though. I only wish I could have known bands like St Vitus were happening. I think my dad would have been I to it, and we could have shared that. But, he got me into all the classic rock stuff. Three dog night, allman brothers, led zeppelin, cream, Hendrix, Edgar winters, deep purple, all that stuff. I would consider him a proto metal guy. He liked some ballads but hated hair metal. He didn't care for thrash either. He would have loved stoner rock. I was more interested in short, fast, and loud. It wasn't until I moved from one metal capital to another that I started listening to metal primarily (that and all the "punks" in this town ostracizing new people). That, this thread, and another thread about the cost of metal shows, where Laz and I first duked it out.

I totally forgot about trading Marvel cards. Good times. I was into cards in general. Hockey, Baseball whatever.
My old man got me into some prog and space rock mostly Hawkwind and Floyd along with all the other classic stuff Joe mentioned. He also really like SRV, Robin Trower and Nugent.

Anybody remember Pogs... hahaha

I don't think I started messing around with bass until 98. I played more didgeridoo and piano at that point.

I mean listen to this. Still gives me goosebumps. Sick tune. Great album as well.

The oscillation is really cool, I can have a sea of oscillating noise under what I'm playing but it never muddys it up, which can really thicken things up. I'm thinking this will kick the freeze off the board, as it can do what what the freeze does to some extent plus way more...Ron, cough you said you were looking to pick up another freeze right?

Played around with it my home rig, and now i cant wait to try it out at practice tonight especially with the ADA. The BOSS isn't anywhere as good as the ADA, but it does alright for home riffing.
