I just read that people think the Joyo sounds better, so thought I might start there. Not even sure I would like a Compressor, I had a Boss one and hated it. But that Dimarzio Will Power on the Forever bass is an unruly sum bich LOL.

I like compression for guitar with dirt, for a really specific sound. As a mix engineer I know compression gets used terribly very easily.
I haven't liked any of the compressor pedals I've tried on bass. I'd probably love one of the really high end ones that are very transparent and function more like studio compressors, but I use so much dirt on my bass tone that compression has never been much of an issue. If I was playing slightly clean, with a little bit of overdrive and doing a lot of live paid gigs, I would probably consider picking up one of those Origin Cali76 pedals that everyone raves about.

One of the reasons I have been using my Mark VIII so much is I find the onboard compressor not terrible. I have been using it even out my volume/digging in. Keeps my DDT in the yellow. I dont hear a tonal difference, just keeps things even. If I am not digging in hard, you wouldnt know it was on.

I used to love sports when I was a kid. It was nice to have something other than the weather to talk about in passing.
When I got older and realized people beat each other and people are being castrated over their favorite teams. I said F this I'm out.
I'll still watch some games here and there. I try to keep up with my old teams in the paper occasionally.

I work with my immediately family and they're all into sports. Mostly baseball, my mom has a lot of SF Giants memorabilia around her desk and they play all the games on the radio/streaming. I have zero interest in sports. Nothing against them or people who are into it, just bores me to tears.
I just bought a used MXR Dyna Comp for $50 off a fellow TBer. I'll put that with the ODB-3 and make some King Buzzo tones. I'll find something to use it for, I just want to use my spare PayPal balance to put together a cheap alternate pedalboard.

At least I know how my guitarists wife feels when I go over to their place. Beers, gear, writing songs, and cars. She's like can we talk about something else. haha. She likes UT anything sports and doesn't really listen to any music at all. So she's screwed there.

It doesn't come up very often, but once in a while my wife turns to me and says "I'm so glad you're not into sports". It's usually at some larger family gathering, involving a lot of people crowded around a tv.

Question, how often do you need to change the preamp tubes in a hybrid amp like my Terror Bass? How do you know when they're going "bad"? Will they go microphonic and make that same high frequency noise like in a full tube amp? Is it good practice to change them once in awhile?
I'm not having any issues and think mine sounds great, but this crossed my mind the other day. I know there are JJs in there right now, which is probably what I'd buy if I needed new tubes anyways, so I'll probably leave it as is for now. Just curious if I should be keeping an eye on them. I've had the amp for probably over a year now, but who knows how long the tubes were in there before as I bought it used via GC.

You should get 10-15 years out of your pre amp tubes, if not more, depending on how careful you are with them.
I have a feeling when I get back up near the Cleve, I'll start paying more attention. Since there isn't as much to do and stuff. haha. That and all my favorite teams are up there. I can't watch much down here. I effing hate Tony Blowmo and the Cowgirls.
I've heard it was all tubez with a sextile of kt120s.
Have you bought it yet? That thing would crush through a dually. Also you could then have way too big of a head and way toobsmall of a head for sitting on top of your dually.
Most hybrid amps/tube preamps don't apply as high a voltage as a full tube amp would, and actually under power the preamp tubes as I understand it. So typically they should last a very very long time. If you're able to, tap on them with a pencil or something lightly while the amp is on and turned up. If you hear a loud "ping" out of the speakers, it's gone microphonic.
My preamp might have original tubes in it. I never opened it to look and it's worked flawlessly since I bought it about 5-6 years ago.
