Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I'm checking out the latest COC album. Pretty good, I had no idea what to expect style wise. It's not like any of their classic stuff (either lineup/era), kind of almost trad doom sounding though. I'm enjoying it.

Sartori, is that your drummer's way of saying he's quitting your band because he only has time to be in his other one? That sucks. Having your band be someone else's side project is a bummer.

Got the flats put on the ATK last night - they sound pretty good!

i never tried flats on my ATK - i imagine it would balance out really well against the natural trebley/aggressive sound of the bass.

They dont tune to 440.

bastards. ween do this on a few songs as well. there's a band here that plays in 432hz tuning because it 'resonates with the human body' better. lol.

Woke up with one of them on my face once while camping.

this post made me spit out my coffee in pure cringe

Eh, I'm not mad at him. He's been in the other band way longer. They pay rent on their rehearsal space, too, and so he's getting hit twice for that. Plus they're about to drop a bunch of money on an album and go on tour, and start rehearsing way more due to that. So, I get it. Not happy about it, but neither is our drummer.

I messaged our original drummer asking him to come back, but he hasn't responded, so I guess he's not interested.

NO WORK ON FRIDAY FOR THIS GUY!!! Gonna get plenty of sleep after Sleep.
Do you have the pillowcase?

That sucks, but I can understand it. I've done the same thing before, but it was about 11 years ago. I was in two bands and one got offered a tour, only had time to do one. Hopefully you guys find a replacement soon.

Reactions: Sartori
If your talking about IX Corey, I didn't know it was out yet. Just listened for a second (literally) and might pick it up. I guess they took their touring rigs into the studio and let rip and full gig volume. Think they all played in the same room for a more organic mix.

Yeah, it's on Spotify. I'm in the midst of listening Eye For An Eye right now, the 3 piece lineup reunion album. It sounds like a greatest hits of 80's american fast punk/hardcore styles. Which isn't a bad thing, I really like that style of music. They nailed the production style for that era and sound too, without sounding out and out crappy.

Dude, Eye for an Eye was their legit first album. Came out in 84 or 85. They reissued it when they went back to a 3 piece.

do any of you smarty pants know how to check if a pedal reverses your signals polarity and cut low end a bit?

i might just see if i can build a tiny box with tip/sleeve reversed

this is a great video by the way, has me thinking my blended tone could work better by toying with polarity
