Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I then read a lot about gypsy vardo trailers. I am now curious if I could create a camping/travel space on a 3-5'x6.5-8' flatbed trailer. Then create a upcycled space out of materials on craigslist and haul them to my place on the trailer before I start building. Like a wood pallets, fence slats waterproof material what have you if I go more modern covered wagon approach. Room for sleeping 2, hopefully I could stand in it (6'1"). Carry water, dry storage food, a rocket stove. Candles etc, solar panel/battery maybe for phone charging. The question is could I make a sturdy yet livable space that wouldn't cause trouble for the car or void a warranty.

of course I have no clue how much a flatbed weighs or if that counts towards the towing weight in full or at all. 2013 corolla for those who have warnings, ideas, etc.

I was lazy camping at a state park in Virginia, the kind where you pull right up to the site and have plugs for electricity. A few sites down from us a family had a medium sized flatbed trailer and they had a big tent that fit on it perfectly. They just pull in and pop up the tent. It was a pretty easy and slick set up.

I need me of these for home use. Would be really handy. I got that little Marshall battery amp. I need to get an adapter and some decent phones. Hopping I can dial in a sort of Lemmy tone. Or I might bring a pedal home after practice. I need to write so e music before next practice. I got a ton of lyrics and nothing to put them to.

Feels like a Cult of Luna, day. That band is what got me playing stuff other than punk. I started a band in that style, or tried to. My first foray into effects. Loved playing that ambient stuff. Trying to incorporate some of all my influence as I write. It makes for weird riffs that work. I also need to study some exotic riffs. Look at different progressions and open my mind to different sounds. I always pedal off my fretted B (we play drop B), and add some open low B as ballz, but, I need to try and explore different things. Don't want to write the same riffs over and over. Need to start in different keys. Either way, at work right now. Just got to get through these 8 hours. And then tomorrow.

Some of the amp models can get dirty, but I usually plug my pedalboard in anyway. There's also distortion pedal models in there somewhere but I never learned to use them. The manual is garbage - there's a thread here on TB about the rackmount version that has a much better instruction book in you end up getting one.

That sounds like a cool idea. I remember seeing a photo somewhere of someone mounting a micro terror to their board and running is as a preamp/pedal, too. :woot:

People say that in their ads all the time here. What does that mean? All the scammers I've come across were ridiculously obvious with weird names and asking for shipping and non cash payments.

If you offer me decent cash in person I don't care what your plan is as long as said cash gets in my hand.

So are you offering money order based international shipping in your ads?

I would be happy if I got cash offers most of the time. But 99% were scams so it's usually not worth the effort.

Ok, I guess I'm just used to that and see it as the nature of the beast. I have a junker email address for craigslist. Just delete the time wasters and junk (also always check your junk folder, lotta sales were found there).

There's a guy in town who says he'll only charge high prices to weed out spammers lol. That's the only offers you're gonna get, but he clearly doesn't get that. (He wants $850 for a tuck n roll column PA).

I assumed in cases like that someone just tried to short change him in person or another less than obvious scam.

I live in one of the biggest metroplexes in the US and I'm visiting Austin on a semi regular schedule. I have a really decent market to work with, also I flip constantly usually without something in mind other than profit.

Time is on my side so that helps. I also write nice ads, take decent pics, and start my price borderline unreasonable and whittle down in increment ending in 5 (heard prices ending in 5 are more pleasing statistically). I always say OBO FS/FT in every ad no matter what. I just realized I should offer meetings or delivery for the right price as I'm writing this.

I'm usually making at least double what I pay for things so I have wiggle room and time to ease the ads. Trades are awesome because when you weed out the weird trades there's some pretty awesome up trades thrown out I can just retrade or sell towards what I really want, or the next flip.

Still on the hunt for a cab. I was totally convinced on that Aggy 810. Still would like it, but can't help but feel that for $850 bones I can do better. Not to mention, the nut on my SB-2 broke somehow last night and now I need to get that fixed, which clamps down on my already tight budget. Do any of you guys have experience with a GK neo 412? Is it loud enough to run solo or paired with 2 115s?

For some reason I keep turning my head away from an 810e. Reason being, I had a 410he a few years back and really never cared for the sealed cab sound. The lack of lows when I played in standard was disappointing and now that I am in A# I just expect the 810e to be a big heavy clank machine, losing a lot of the bass in translation.

I know I am overthinking this. I just don't want a repeat of the last show where I couldn't hear myself at all. I have a lot more power at my disposal now, but big guns require big ammo. If it were for any genre besides doom, I know I would be squared away. A 412 would be lighter, more than enough loud and could probably fit in my Charger. With doom though, I am skeptical.
