Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

thanks man, i grew up around planes, and my father was actually a navy helicopter mechanic in the 60s
Awesome!
That's the job I wanted. Because I wanted to be on a smaller ship that would port more often.
Nuke, Aviation Mechanic, Ordinance, and Submarine Electrician were the open jobs. I still had to wait 9 months for the Mechanic job. Hurricane ruined the good training possibilities.

That sounds sweet. I have some major gas for the blue NG2. Have you heard what the street price will be? I keep googling and never seeing any digits.

So I was pretty sure that once my MM basses sold I was going to pursue a NG-2. I think all the combustion bodies are routed with the standard, and close pick up positions. If that is the case, I may go for a V4 combustion, and get/cut a new pick guard for it after moving the pick up's for my self.

Hopefully I can get a natural finish, rosewood fingerboard, and a DG pre.

I've had similar version of the first story about a dozen times over the past year with Craigslist jams. Though it wasn't restricted purely to younger dudes. The drummer I'm playing with now has me a little version every once in a while, but he hasn't flaked so far. I'm going to try to move a lot faster than I normally would writing songs and getting ready to gig though, because I know if we already have a demo and have played out a bit, it will be easier to replace someone if they bail.

Fortunately, a couple weeks after getting blown-off, I got another response, it's worked out, and he hasn't flaked out once. Canceled? rescheduled? sure, numerous times, but always communicates ahead of time. Jamming together mostly weekly since March, we've got 8-9 originals down and are ready to play out. Just so happens he's.. well.. my exact age (38), two kids, married, job, etc. Style-wise, he's not so much into the metal / stoner rock / doom; he comes more from the punk/alt/indie/post-hardcore end of things, but hey I can work with that, especially if he shows up most every week and enjoys playing. <BLATANT PLUG> Check the link in my signature to hear the results! :) </BLATANT PLUG>

I'm listening to the songs now, pretty cool. Sounds like something between QOTSA and Danzig.

I have a hard time taking that song seriously because of the line "He's just a loner, he does things alone."

Yea that's absolutely terrible.

On the subject of not terrible music stuff, amazon prime has a new ad less streaming app!

They are starting to fill it up with some good S/D music, but there's a lot of decent stuff and I can make sound tracks for my phone and play them through my new (to me) JBL flip Bluetooth speakers.

Got it for my bike rides, I want dark creepy music for my night country rides. Also comes in handy for chilling on the porch, which is what my mom does with hers.

So tracking the preamp, it says it tried to deliver today and the business was closed so it couldn't deliver?

Was delivering to coppell a town nearby I guess with a fedex office as it still knows it's coming to me in denton.

Weirdness did an entire fedex location take a long weekend lol?

Edit: they say it was delivered but no one was home, yet it was before I left so they must have stealth knocked and ran away. I just had them ship it to the fedex office instead.

More like the driver forgot to drop off the package when he was in the area and didn't want to go back so: Voila! Business Closed!

I can't count the number of knock-and-run deliveries I've had at home. Like, less than ten seconds from the time they knock to the time I open the door to see no delivery person and one of those goddamn notes on my door stating that it's the "FINAL ATTEMPT TO DELIVER".

That's why I started having stuff shipped to work. A lot less hassle that way.
