Picked up that Orange Micro Terror for a headphone amp last Friday. Man I love that thing, sounds great on guitar(from great cleans to pretty high gain), but can cop the Terror Bass tones too. Plays great with pedals and love how it sounds through the Bassic. I kind of wish the TB had the higher gain and voicing of the Micro Terror for guitar. What a great little headphone/home practice amp for the price of a pedal. Speaking of micro look how tiny this pup is, it can sleep in your palm.

Morning fellas.

Probably blasphemy but I loaned out my Bazz to a co-worker the other day so I stuck the old Bass Big Muff back on the board. I was able to find a pretty damn good sounding setting and now I'm thinking about adding it back to the board full time. It sounds better with flats than it did with the old rounds that I was using. Anyway, that's all I've got. Carry on.

My favorite part of the ol' Bass Big Muff was running another dirt in front then mixing that in with the BBM using it's "clean" blend. Used to do that with an FZ-2.

Hopefully that pup learns to turn the volume the right way on the Micro.

Dude... If some of the drivers are toast, I would consider all of them needing a look-see to make sure they are not all fried or on their way out.

You may be in for 8 new drivers...

If I need 8 drivers. I'd just take the speakers out and sell it as a whack-a-mole box to a carnie.

I would revise to "If you don't like Nirvana's tone" or something like that. I'm not really into em, but they have a cool sound.

Aye, the Rat Tail. It has some controls that the RAT doesn't have, which allows it to retain some more lowz. I'd imagine that the dark driving is based on the same circuit if it has a "backwards" tone (filter) control, and is probably a version more exclusively for bass. The original RAT can be easily modded to retain more low end by removing a single resistor.

The controls on the DD always seemed weird to me. From what I remember the gain and tone were very interactive.

Not sure if you've seen the "manual" but it at least explains what's going on with the knobs.

Another characteristic of RAT based circuits Cranking up dat filter and adding in enough grit with the distortion knob brings the heavy.

Been tempted to get one of these. They can supposedly run off of a higher voltage power supply and actually spit out a higher wattage. Diggin' the tolex on that Terror Bass.

I would revise to "If you don't like Nirvana's tone" or something like that. I'm not really into em, but they have a cool sound.

The original RAT can be easily modded to retain more low end by removing a single resistor.

Nirvana is what got me to play in the first place. Coincidentally "Breed" is the first bass line I learned, and I couldn't figure out why my bass couldn't achieve that sound.

Resistance is futile, we will get more low end if we want it.

Ugh, no time to do the Muff Off yet! I did recover the Sublime from buddy so I've got whole roster at-hand. poopie, I probably won't have time to record until Thanksgivingish.

I've done that with an overdrive with decent results. Makes up for the fact that you can't blend over 9:00 without a giant volume boost.

Yeah it's pretty fizzy pretty quick, I keep the tone knob at or below 9:00 and it sounds like there's a decent mid boost at those settings. Or maybe it's just lack of mid cut.

I found a guy on ebay with good reviews that makes simple muff variant clones between $65 and $85 bucks, so I ordered the Green Russian clone for $65. Out of all the Muff variants I tried my favorite was the GGG Green Russian clone build done by Sean Ryan effects that I should of never sold. So figured $65 was worth a shot.

gotta make some comparisons between the d180, the rat tail, and the dark driving, having some drop tuning issues, currently when i go to drop d i'm getting some pretty substantial buzzing on the e string, may end up playing only the open d and the rest of the riffs on the a string, because i'm not a fan of raising the action to counter for that

I did that recently with the Pickle Pie B and the Ultimate Drive. Put the ovedrive first, then set the fuzz to a very dark and thick sound and just barely dialed it in with the clean blend to beef up the overdrive sound. This was the result...

Yep, they're all like that. At least the one I owned and all the ones I ever played.

Yeah, I used to have one that was the same way. I just figured it was because Russia.

Yea I've had three, still got two and they are all that way.

If you dismantle it you can actually flip the board and jacks, but I wasn't sure how well that design held up to being stomped on. Though clearly even put together right they don't do so well.
