Damn... $30??? I need to hang out in Denton. I am sure you guys have quite the choice of bomb tacos while I wait for killer CL deals.
It is a fender tone stack just made more hi fi/flat is the consensus I got from research after I bought it. It's controls are pretty simple and most people find it merely gives you the best possible reproduction of your bass tone. Passive basses seem to be favored.
Today I'll be running the bronco bass with gfs hot rail and a p bass with SD 1/4 pounder in it. Been so lazy about putting the roadstar together with the new dimarzio model P and BEAD chromes, but I cannot wait to hear that go into the rig.
Real test is when the dually is back in commission and I can run two cabs and two pres at once. See which ones stack best and how.
Is it a squier? Those affinity ones have all had ok necks on the ones I've owned.

So the word on the street is that there is no chance to get a V4 combustion with a DG pre. The C4 bodies are routed for both the NG-2 and standard pick up orientations though. Think I am going to go with a V4, mount the pick ups NG-2 style, and cut my own pick guard for it. It will come with the EMG pre, but that could sound really killer on its own.
Anyone have any experience cutting a pickguard? What did you use to do the bevel?

It is indeed a Squier Affinity. The neck is pretty seriously over-bowed. Seller said it was never tuned, never adjusted, virtually never played, just ignored for years until the owner asked his son (the seller) to just get rid of it. I'll give it a shot with the truss rod to see if it comes back. Any advice?
My main bass lately is another Squier p-bass special (PJ), a black one that I got off CL a couple years ago. . I jammed a GFS hot rails in the bridge PU slot and rewired it to have separate outputs for each pickup, and multi-amp it that way, basically like rick-o-sound. As I'd like to gig with that bass soon, I'd had my eye out for similar configuration basses to set up as a backup- so when I saw this one pop up this morning less than 8 miles away, I jumped on it.
Also, now that I have two, I might have the courage to get ambitious with a router (a woodworker I am not) for the bridge PU cavity- route it bigger and jam a DiMarzio X2N-7 in there?? The hot rails just barely covers the string spread. Askrere, does that hot rails cover the strings in the Bronco? You're further away from the bridge and maybe a Bronco has tighter spacing anyways?
I had a guy in Austin make me one, he did an excellent job. He posts on TB pretty often. Mine was a bass vi one he already had made some though. Most pickguard makers should let you send them your existing guard and notes and make you one and ship then both back.
So I made what I'm calling Mexican red eyed gravy
Bacon drippings fresh in the pan with hot coffee poured over it and black pepper, red chili flake, paprika, Mexican oregano, malt vinegar and the black bean gravy residue from a can of black beans.
I put a it over the rice/bean/cilantro mix. Also dip these crackers in it.
The taste of the cracker dipped in the gravy tastes just like world market (formerly cost plus) smells like. Weird...

Sounds like a one-way ticket to toilet town.
Next time make a roux with the bacon grease and flour, then add your seasonings/coffee and stuff.
That would get me in the direction of sawmill style gravy. Red eyed gravy is rather thin stuff and a weird mix of coffee and pork fat. Really good though.
I'll get back to you about the trip to toilet town once I've left the station.

Same here, i was disappointed when they got the new singer. Master of brutality was pretty good, but they've been kind of stagnant since then (IMO).
