i have a ton of time on borderlands 2 as well. mass effect was a great series to run through with the girlfriend (except for ME1's atrocious combat).

i'm enjoying Destiny, probably because i avoided the hype train like the plague. hit level 20 last week (3 weeks late on buying the game!) and am nearly to 22. slowly ranking up with the New Monarchy to get the Order armour. PvE play was fairly disappointing - wave after wave with disjointed terribly vague story. grimoire cards are nice to read while at work though for some context.

to be honest, i'm a PvP kind of guy - and what they've put together for this game is exactly what i wanted from Halo, but even better. 3.0kd last night on Control - yay Bladedancer.

Same here. We had Virtua Fighter running (on pc with controllers) in the lab where I worked for some months. It was great. And Sonic.

I've been practicing our songs with both. Like using fingers and have a fairly decent three finger attack. But this is hardcore and I can't drop a note without hearing it so I keep picking.
What kills me is the difference in volume between the two. Fingers need to go up... Pick need to go down. No time for any fiddling during a live set. Plus the sound guy would be going nuts with me dicking around.

+1 on the volume difference. Another reason I stick to one over the other. Although I have had success in the past using my Boss GEB-7 as a volume regulator when switching to pick from fingers between songs. Just bring the volume slide on the pedal down a notch and engage it when needed.

Nice score. I bought a similar looking one from IKEA a while back. Its a 10-spacer though and I don't have nearly as many records to fill the gaps yet so right now its housing two and a half "racks" worth of rekkids and the rest is just random paraphernalia & books. Pics later.
Once we move out next year I'm gonna actually lay it on its side and sit the turntable on top. Might take up more space but its a much neater setup particularly with the turntable and Hi Fi together.

I definitely pick louder. I generally compensate by picking either over the fretboard(15ish area) or almost at the bridge. Fingering I tend to favor directly over the neck pickup.
Helps some.
I also picked up a kickass compressor this year that's been fun playing with as a extreme limiter. Not universally musical but fun as an effect.

Man, I really need to learn how to use a compressor. I picked up an Aggy TLC a few months back and flipped it after five pracs and two gigs. Could not make it work out for me. Seemed like too much hassle for what it was worth at the time but I'd really like to know what I was doing wrong and how much a comp can really work in my favour given the right settings. All trial and error, sure, but I was impatient and a bit sour after forking out so much money for it. Ended up breaking even when I flipped it so not entirely sore.

I've almost always used some sort of compressor when I play clean. I've never cared for the way bass sounds when lightly fingered. Sounds wimpy to me, but ina band situation no compression with heavy fingerstyle sounds like you have no sustain because of extreme volume drop after transients. So I like a fast compression to flatten my attack and round my notes off.
The one part of my old bp8 preamp I still love is it's compressor. That noisy digital POS could sound really fat and sexy when dialed in. Too bad the whole thing hums.
