Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Solid Hex Volt rehearsal tonight. We even unexpectedly dusted off the low-n-slow cover of Dead Kennedys "Too Drunk To Fuqq" that for no reason we hadn't played since June and it sounded mostly tight. I scored a pair of Mackie SRM450 powered PA speakers from craigslist yesterday. Now we have a semi-real PA and I don't have to sing through the GK 400RB + Peavey 2x10 bass rig I got in an Iowa City pawn shop 20 years ago. We have tentative plans to invade a local sh!thole dive on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for our first gig. Woo hoo!!

ugh, show at the museum that i have been working on since july is canceled for now, somehow i drove home at 1am back from practice and then got up at 630 and made it to work only 12 minutes late, practice was usual bs, but we finally got the pedal situation under control, guitarist >tele > modtone buzz boy > fab overdrive > marshall ss 100 watt head, me > skyline p > dark driving > lil mark 3, if i ever have to play dunwich, skulls, or gimme hell again after halloween i'm going to seriously start buying basses at target or costco and start breaking them after every song

Anyone use a zoom recorder or use any of their newer iPhone mics? Lookin at maybe picking up a IQ6. I use my phone a ton to catch ideas/riffs/songs and it's always killing the built in mic and levels. Tried the rode app and it helps with the levels but think a actual mic hooked to my phone might help.

fuq... Android left in the dust again.

Honestly a MicroUSB version would be really sweet. You could develop it to interface with a computer directly as well.

I've heard good things about that zoom mic, probably would do the job just fine.

What I've been hearing from manufacturers is that it's much, much easier to program audio applications for Apple/IOS products than it is for Android. Aside from some unspecified native problems with the architecture of the Android OS, There's lots of compatibility issues due to the different versions of the Android OS, multitudes of different devices etc. It's getting better and we'll see more products/apps for Android in the next few years, but in general it's just a lot easier to make an iOS compatible product.

It sucks, and I don't care for Apple products, but it is what it is.
