Is it too neurotic to not contact a drummer because they're a 20 year old girl? Someone posted an ad on my local CL that comes off super professional (well spoken, no nonsense but friendly, looking for something dedicated and focused, link to some high energy metal drum covers), looking to start or join a metal based band that will be active. I'm a little spooked by the fact that it's a 20 year old girl (her word, I'm fine with "woman" for anyone over 18) with sleeve tattoos who posts youtube videos of her shredding on drums in skull and crossbones patterned sports bras. Am I being a weird d*ck or should I just respond to her ad and she if she's into the music I write? It is really hard to find dedicated people here that aren't total flakes. I have zero problem being in bands with women (I'm happily married and never had any weirdness about female friends when I was younger), I just don't have any social interactions with 20 year olds and I'm not sure if me being on the ripe end of 35 automatically makes me a creeper if I do.

i think any woman who can play or is interested in playing stoner/doom knows that she's going to be playing with 25+ often rotund plaid-wearing beardy-men. i'd say go for it but that's just me. think of it the same as any other drummer - if they are a pain in the arse then drop them.

Generally speaking, I subscribe to the rule of "no women in the band." Call me a chauvinist or whatever. All that aside, necessity trumps so if a woman drummer is the best available you gotta at least try and see what happens.

Ok, and yea my mistake I was thinking of the TVX.

I really want to try a 412tvx, though it's too deep to actually fit in my car. And now I got the best setup that can fit in my car so it's a non issue.

Then who would sleep in the old boot I stuffed with straw?

I always thought it'd be fun to be the token guy in a riot grrl band.

I played with two guys and a girl before in a band. She was terrible, not that it was because of her gender, she just had no real drive or talent (locally famous brother at the time though).

I played with another girl every so often a couple years ago, she is really good, but she didn't have any time and then moved to Fort Worth and got even busier.

Both situations I totally saw them as friends and still do. That's not hard for me.

if youre planning on using this as your gigging bass amp, my vote is NO. It wont be loud enough.

I'm not going to use 2000s as my main gigging bass stack, because it's too loud! Seriously, with a fuzz it makes my bandmates cry. Both of them use a 100W amp with 4x12 so it's not super brutal, but we're still louder than any pub want us to be. We hadn't been gigging since I got 2000s, so I'll take it next time just to try it, anyway my 80W Sunn is enough to shake the stage. I think efficient cab is more important than powerful amp, anyway 2000s head has a great potential to drive some proper speakers.

Also I'm a bit tired of having all bandmates bearded so I'm starting a band with girls only, young and sexy long-legged blonde girls only to be accurate, and it's going to be a hippie space orgy band.

Honestly the age is a bigger turnoff then the gender IMO.

I started gigging in bars at about 16, playing with a 35 and 30 year old. It was probably a special situation, as my dad and the guitar player had been friends for some time, but I gigged with them for the better part of 3 years. I can totally understand not wanting to gig with people that age though, but certainly there are some of us that are professional enough to play with.

Yes as a younger musicians who has primarily played with oldies like your guys, I really appreciate that they looked past my age.

I didn't mean my post to be dismissive of all younger musicians. If the right person came along i wouldn't really care about age as much. Obviously you dudes on this board are cool and I'd be happy to be in a band with any of you. I was mostly bitching about my classmates earlier. Obnoxious idiots come at all ages, though.

I would be surprised if you could hear much difference between the TX and TVX lines. I do know the 412TVX is a monster of a cab.

Oh and a weird guitar concept I made once and never realized, the two resistors are supposed to be shortly diodes for passive fuzz.

Was a tele bridge pickup neck, strat middle and mini humbucker bridge.

Because I have mad internet skills I found her CL posting as well as the youtube videos. Saw the part where she's wearing boy shorts and a sports bra or whatever. Honestly who cares. I don't see that any different from a male drummer playing with his shirt off. Now if you think your wife will feel threatened now that's a completely different story, cause you gotta respect the wife, but if that's not an issue, I say go for it. Seems like she's got some pretty solid chops.

So, d'y'all remember how I talked out my @$$ a month or two back about picking up a Sunn 2000s full rig? Right, well, that never panned out. However, while perusing the craigslist the other day, I saw it back up, now at $1299. The listing now says however, that it's not making sound, maybe the tubes or transformer. As of today, it's now listed for $750. This is for both the head and cab, which I'm fairly certain has JBLs loaded in it. So I've emailed the guy again, seeing if I can check it out this weekend. I'd bet it's a fuse in the back, or maybe the tubes, but I'm kinda doubting the transformers issue. Either way, we'll see how this goes...

Sup fellas? I've been neglecting TB but I got nothing going on anyway. Once tax season rolls around again I'll get back to work on my pedal board and I'll make you sick of me then.

I say yes to 20 year old female drummers and I demand it to be weird. At my age I have to associate with people 15 years younger than me if I want to have any fun.

Already started my Christmas shopping for my daughter. I'll be done by the end of November and can actually relax around Christmas time. I love the internet with my whole face!
