Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Saint Vitus would like to regretfully inform all of our European fans that our lead vocalist Wino was detained by the Norwegian police and immigrations officers for possession of illegal substances since Sunday November 9th. As of 4 pm yesterday evening (Nov. 11th) we were informed by his Norwegian defense attorney that he would more than likely be released that same day and be able to continue the remaining dates of our European tour. This morning we received notification that Wino was being deported today back to the U.S. with no hope to remain in Scandanavia or anywhere in the EU.
SAINT VITUS WILL CONTINUE THE REMAINING DATES OF THE TOUR!!!
Our sincere apologies to all of our fans, the promoters, booking agents and especially our Norwegian fans and promoter for the cancelled show. We will still deliver the HEAVY sound to all of our friends in Europe and it is our hope that everyone will understand our position to go forward with the remaining dates without Wino. David Chandler and Henry Vasquez along with a few surprise guests will take over vocal duties and this will be a rare opportunity to see Vitus with main songwriter David Chandler vocalizing his tormented tales of pain, heartache and DOOM. We hope to still see all of you on our remaining dates. shag THAT WEAK poopie!!!!

The HP and LP filters sounds like a killer feature. Basically one side is guitar based and the other for bass like his old rigs. Just wrapped up into a 1000w 2 space amp. I want one

Since we've been doing a lot of fly-in and one off shows lately I've found that the 2 main pieces of gear I need are my EGC and my Demon King. As long as there is an amp that is ampeg-ish and a big cab or two I can get a tone close enough so that I still sound like myself. Obviously I prefer my own amps/cabs, but the EGC + Demon gets me to where I need to be.
They should track down Christian Linderson - I always thought he did a good job on C.O.D. as well as Count Raven and the Terra Firma record.
As for Wino - dude should shaging know better than to do that kind of poopie. I would imagine that it's a more serious substance that he was caught with (10 bucks says it's meth) - but seriously, why would anyone carry that poopie over a border? ESPECIALLY when you're WINO, lead singer of SAINT VITUS, with a reputation for liking chemicals and thousands of fans that will bring you all sorts of party favors before and after every goddamn show. I know addiction is a bitch, but that's a really stupid way to kill a tour.

I had the chance to open for them in July, and the clips I've heard of the Tech 21 amp sound amazingly like his live sound.
Which means they actually sound like swishy ass until the guitars and drums come in. Its set up to have the high end phaseyness of the old overdriven 12 strings, with mostly super duper lows, so on its own, its not at all appealing. This is from standing about 15 feet in front of his cabs during sound check

Bronco, fabtone, gk mb500, bassic. Fine tones for the cleanest to the dirtiest riffs.
Once things are together that jag will totally take over. And open so many other options. Might have to rewire my bronco to match.

unbearable gas attack for a 1515/66 right now. would love to put it on its side with the sunn on top, use it for the bass side and the sunn for the treble.

Over the next several months I'll be planning and building a real motherfu**er of a bass amp that you guys will undoubtedly get a kick out of. No holds barred here. I'll be sure to post pics along the way. Once it's dialed in, we are planning to offer these for sale. Here's some teasers:
6x KT90 power section. A KT90's official max dissipation is 50watts (in practice, often more), so we're looking at about 300watts or more.
All Mercury Magnetics Transformers. (That's nearly a grand in just the trannies!)
Not a single Electrolytic capacitor. Yep, even filter caps will be Polypropylene film. No need to ever re-cap. MUCH better ESR, and many more benefits.
All Point to Point Mil-spec wiring. (Building this with my amp mentor, who's an ex-military electronics contractor)
DI, and FX Loop.
Plenty of gain and EQ control.
Freaking pumped to get started!

Easily my pedalboard but if I had to narrow that down more it would probably be my Earthbound Audio Supercollider muff. It brings the doom like no other muff I've tried. Thick and crushing tone without the wooliness of other fuzz pedals which I'm not a fan of.
this is one of the more unique pedal setups i've seen. not the pedals themselves, but the board - i love the idea of screwing the pedals down to a tolexed base and a heavily padded lid to travel with. might have to get a flight case.
Guess its handy if you're a "set and go" kinda guy but I imagine it would be a royal thorn in your balls if you're constantly changing pedals and repositioning the chain. Realized I hadn't been in here in a while at practice last night. Found out one of my guitarist is on a few forums it's how he got one of the first run of pharaohs when they started black arts. We've got our first show with this new lineup next Thursday. Really excited. We're opening for Funeral Horse.
