Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Finally back home after a looong day of travel. Off work, caught a bug, sick as hell.

Hanging out watching old movies today.

Saw two excellent movies on the plane yesterday: Snowpiercer is really, really awesome action/scifi and Come Morning is a damn good low-key indie thriller. Both highly recommended.

Ok, firefox seems to be the least glitchy for me. My folks are liberal Lutherans, i was raised that way until i was confirmed, then told the folks that i was an atheist/humanist, explained the philosophy of humanism and that was good enough for them. No real conflict between me and the family.

question for those with experience with Moog pedals. When I bypass my MF103 phaser it causes some background noise which pulsates with the speed of the phaser. I can't seem to get rid of it. you can only hear it through the speaker when I am not playing but it is still annoying. any ideas?

I even put it in the loop of my nose pedal looper and it still made the noise...

Wouldn't think something as pricey as moog would let transient noise through. I've had a few chorus oedals that did similar.

So You eat people?

For cereal though, I'll have to check out those movies. I thought snowpiercer was a 007 movie and skipped it.

Yeah I skipped over it for a while thinking it was an action film but it was pretty badarse.[/QUOTE]
So, I'm strange and have always taken words apart and switched around letters (yeah, it was pretty obvious I was gonna be an English major), but your addition of an "r" to that made me think of this: bard ***. Just saying. Maybe it's the painkillers from having my gallbladder removed today, but I felt it was funny.

My older brother just became a pastor. If I believed in god, I'd say God help us. I'm spending the holiday in the shop, catching up on cab orders. My family has let me know they're praying for me. Had they studied theology as much as I did, they probably wouldn't be Christians either :)

My family's a bit funny with religion. They're kinda religious but at the same time they're really against it. The only thing my parents have any sort of belief in is the rite of baptism so my sister and I are naturally baptised but that's as far as our religious exposure went. So I guess that technically makes us catholic but never been to mass or church (unless its for a wedding), never prayed or attended any sort of religious school etc. But my parents do have a big-ass statue of Mary in their living room which they protect like its a glass baby or something.

At the same time, my dad in particular is strongly against the church and my mum has always been really distrustful of priests. So much so that my dad actually nearly got into a bust up with a priest who threatened to call off a wedding if the bride was 5 minutes late to her own wedding.

So yeah...they're a bit weird with how they approach religion but I prefer that upbringing over the opposite situation.

Anyone play that Destiny game on 360? Just got it for xmas.
It was good for a while but then it became increasingly repetitive. The game is ideally meant to be played with a group of friends but none of my mates have Xboxes so I was usually left trying to solo missions and getting more and more frustrated failing missions due to lack of numbers.

Its far from a terrible game but it just wasn't my cup of tea. You might get a kick out of it if you've ever played Borderlands and liked it (its a bit like Borderlands but much slower paced and not nearly as charming). Apparently Bungie are revamping the game in the coming updates to improve the experience like Respawn did with Titanfall (another average over-hyped game that actually became more enjoyable with the following updates).

Howdy doody you funky lot, you. Here's an early Christmas present.

In other news, I'm looking at the Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxxx reissue. I was thinking about getting another FuzzFace (or buying a new wiring kit to put in my old one, which I can't seem to revive anymore), but recently saw this thing, which looks to be handwired, and for like, $80, that seems pretty cool. There's also some real easy mods to give it more low end. I don't use fuzz like a lot of you, I want it to be trebly and gnarly as possible, don't really need to retain the low (especially with the stereo jazz), so it might not be up your guys alley, but I think I'll grab it.

LOL I just watchrd that comedy about LARPers that was called something like Bardass.

My father was a nondenominational preacher. The group he belongs to is kinda psycho. I'm real glad to not be around that anymore.
I think that heavy-church environment sent me runnin to heavy music.
So this time of year I work real hard at keeping things Xmas and winter solstice for my daughter. Won't let anyone push the pretty side of religion on my daughter.

Heavy churchin' DEFINITELY made me crave the metal.

My parents are only religious when it's good for an awkward conversation in public, that my wife and I do our best to just shrug off and not let become an argument. I was raised without any sort of religion, with the exception of my mom sending me to mass once with an elderly neighbor. In my teens my dad became what I'd call "AA religious". Now he's kind of a wackadoo, goes off on tangents about how atheism is just a different way of believing in god (he can never seem to process that other people don't think the same things he does, it's just a communication issue) and stuff about transdimensional angel/aliens.
