Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I'm over 800 miles from all my gear and projects. You guys are making me jealous.

Yeah but road trips are fun. You should be downtown bumming around trying to find a southern starter girlfriend to keep you busy or at least a better reason to get a shot of penicillin than playing in Pappy's creek out yonder.

Happy holidays, kids. Hope everyone stays safe and dooms on over the silly season. Its Xmas Day over here now and I very much look forward to spending my days off cranking THIS beast up nice and loud!

Missus helped me chip in to get this SVT-CL for Xmas. 06' model so one of the last USA built SVT-CL's before manufacturing moved to Asia. Previous owner NOS'd the pre and power tubes about 6 months ago with Winged C 6550 power tubes and Mullard & Amperex Bugle Boy 12AX7's in the preamp and driver sections. Came with a neat padded cover for protection. For its age the head is really clean and well taken care of. Apart from the discoloration on the grille cloth from the forward-fan the amp is in pristine condition. My first step into tube heads and quite possibly the last amp I'll ever buy as I've been GASing for an SVT since I started playing bass. The only obvious downside is the sheer weight but its manageable so long as I'm not carrying it for super long distances.

I know you got the second job but hope you are getting to enjoy yourself some at least. I was thinking of you last night as I had to cook a bunch well to me a bunch of taco meat last night for dinner tonight. Just 6lbs but it took while with the normal household kitchen gear. Then when I got all finished Sarah says you have to tell my Mom I made it, because she will never ask any of us daughters to help make dinner if any of the husbands or boyfriends end up making it, she is that old school. I get off at noon and there has been nothing to do here for days, so a nice work week LOL.

I have been catching up on sleep. :woot:

I try to not cook for holidays/parties and such for family/friends social gatherings.
1. It is too much like "work".
2. People start having expectations. I show up to a party, and there is food for 50 to go on the grill. And it was just assumed that I would cook it all. If I had known I was going to cook, I would have not worn a nice shirt to go get greasy and sweat in. Oh also, for the couple of hours I am going to spend doing this, you owe me $150.
3. When I do put in the time/effort/money to cook for gatherings it stands out. Last time one of my friends had a party, I ended up bringing a bunch of spicy tuna rolls. Stands out against chips and cheese and casseroles. ;)

I dig the trip, but I'm not in a place to find pretty ladies lol. Also the accent here drives me batty.

Not to mention I'm sure my Pentecostal family here would love me cruisin' the streets for promiscuous strange to bring back to the house for Christmas.

CL up yeself a whole new rig!

Stuffs expensive or well out of the way from where I am, I had considered it for flipping purposes but my pre CL check of the area was disheartening so I put all my cash in the bank before I left.

This explains a lot. Who else comes from a batpoopie crazy religious family? All my relatives are born again non denominational christians. I don't really like them.

My kin is Catlick but not pushy about it, my girlfriend's family is Pentecostal and too pushy about it lol. Will be some bible reading tonight at the Christmad Eve dinner so far I have never been asked to say grace or do a prayer before dinner I think it is known but unspoken in that circle that I am agnostic. And that suits me just fine, except when Micah dimes me out and says Joe's eyes weren't shut, the little ingrate lol.

I was not raised in a Christian house or near any Christian relatives. My grandma did say I needed to be saved, so my parents had me baptized and confirmed as an episcopalian when I was like 10. We were pretty inconsistent and after a short time I had them promise to never take me back and none of us ever returned.

Ever since my "saving", my religious family members have never been pushy, they just quietly assume/pretend we are all on the same page.

If you tell on someone for having their eyes open, your just as guilty ha. I always have my eyes open and a smirk on my face.

Had vocal lessons for Galactic Hatchet practice yesterday. Man, singing is hard. Hardest thing ive attempted musically. I have a decent voice, its just getting past the nerves and belting it out that is the worst part.

I got how i want the vocals to be like and now its just practicing. Hope to record them early next week and maybe have a finished track by the new year?

I shouldn't have quoted you per se, but I know a lot of us have come from religious families, Laz, Corey, Blender (even though he hasn't been around). I think it contributes to the doomness

question for those with experience with Moog pedals. When I bypass my MF103 phaser it causes some background noise which pulsates with the speed of the phaser. I can't seem to get rid of it. you can only hear it through the speaker when I am not playing but it is still annoying. any ideas?

I even put it in the loop of my nose pedal looper and it still made the noise...
