Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Got a 1"x8"x6' pine board to make my pignose headcase today for $8.21. Dad wanted oak or spruce, but to me the cost of the quality wasn't important as I've decided to stick to a rustic/distressed looking head that's been stained.

Then later I can grab another cheap board and some ply for a baffle and make a small matching cab, like a 2x10 or 4x6.

Basically this transformation but I'll keep that back metal grill and I'll have a wooden front plate Instead of a wide open front.

I want to do that to a Carvin combo I have. That looks real nice, beveled edges and all, great job.

haha yeah I don't trust the SVT to take it on the road. Last time we were in Montreal in blew up at soundcheck. Taking the Matamp with me for two shows in Montreal and Quebec City in a couple of weeks and the TH500 as backup.

I may go with the SVT at our show in Ottawa on the 24th though.

Damn my friends dad whose woodworking stuff I was using decided to try a new (to him) method of building a box and ended up botching it so no amp head for me yet... I leave tuesday so I'll have to wait probably forever to find a time where me, my dad and that guy are all free... Already been a year since I got the amp and the design was made.

Tomorrow we are celebrating christmas with my texas family and I'm kind of already peeved. Long story but we were each supposed to buy a $30 gift to do a swap thing and cook a savory and a sweet dish. I bought a nice netgear prime hdmi streaming device With new Google TV and chrome browser and full qwerty remote on sale for $29.99 and I'm legit cooking. Now I've heard through the grape vine people have basically bought a sack of bs from Walmart that cost $30 and are bringing hot dogs and ice cream and the like...

Even playing field didn't really pan out at all, when people lower the bar to the ground.

This is why I dont do gift exchanges, and I dont put true effort in to pot lucks.

Why didnt I bring a gift to pass? because you brought wallmart sh!t.
Why didnt I bring a rib roast? You brought cocktail weenies.

Being 24 I've only recently transitioned from kid to adult in terms of holidays. So I'm used to like doing nothing and receiving stuff. Now I'm on equal grounds and realize I try harder than others ever did as the magic disappears.

As for food, I really don't like most white american holiday/party food, and most of my family is picky. So my new plan for the future is make stuff I like and if they are brave they'll try it or back off and I have dinner secured.

I almost didn't do Christmas with my family, because I just wasn't feeling it. The 26th we went to some family friends place and at least I got to drink a couple of beers and talk about music with one of the kids there (he's 4 years younger than me so still a kid, but I'm 26). Christmas didn't feel like Christmas to me this year for some reason, anyone else have that happen?
