Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Is that V a short scale? That's a pretty awesome looking rig.
You need to skip the doom with that V and play some old school British boogie, a la Foghat.

Yeah it's SS.

Hey, ignore me. I thought you were full-on doom, and I just listened to your stuff. I R DUM. I am digging your music a lot.

Thanks man. Our sound's more of a fuzzed out gumbo of various styles.

I thought they were both fender tone stacks?

Give that dog to biodad, or your local chinese/korean restaurant.
No the Micro Terror is different just one main tone knob. I got the Headrush's used for around $80 and the last one sold for parts for like $30 clear. The dog was biodad's, another thing in life he couldn't take care of lol.

it's alive!

Im sorry I had too...

Id love to own one but from the service horror tales ypu guys have told scares me away. Also Id break tubes.

Yea I'm fine sticking to Just tube pres or totally solid state setups for bass. I've found pedals that achieve every kind of dirty bass tone I could need, and I'm finding tube power sections haven't given me the headroom I'm really looking for in regards to bass.

My only caveat would be I still want a peavey guitar head to pull double duty, and if a tube head makes itself available before SS or hybrid that's ok. Of course it would only work for very dirty or low volume bass use.

Ouch.... So anyway Sam, that's quite a dip in the mids. Care to elaborate a little?

that was before I started playing. I still cut a bit at 800hz. I set the mds at 10:30. the 215s have sooo much midrange I need to cut some. clean tones are fine but with overdrive (Demon) it gets too much. with the 810 I set the mids closer to 2 o'clock.

Yeah only tube heads I could see myself buying are made by Peavey...shocking/surprising I know. And it would be only one, whichever I buy first, VTM 60/120, a Butcher, or a Mace.

Took my technophobic father-in-law to the mall and helped him find the Verizon booth.
He walked in with a couple of flip phones.
He left with 3 smartphones and 3 tablets, for him and his wife.
They come back to my house and tell me to make them work.
PEBKAC
Why do 2 people need 6 devices between them?
:beaver:
I truly don't know.
I should never have left him alone.
Truly the most fun was walking them through setting up their own Skype account. "But it's my name, why can't I use my name? Why is someone else already using MY name?"
LOL

Dude! This is my friend. I had a similar experience with his new computer acting shaged up... I told him stay off the goat porn and he wouldn't gather so much malware.
Reference flew right over his head and onto a inferiority complex the rest of the night.

We hooked up through yet another different board today for practice. Super fun watching people flip knobs and settings before ever RTFM.
Once settled a decent stereo mix recorded. We have about three new ones that need smoothing out.
Two songs have pretty much been ditched. But that's ok.

Morning, fellas. Not much going on today, roasted a chicken the other day, so now I'm making stock from the carcass and we'll have chicken soup with biscuits for dinner.

Cranking reverend bizarre and cleaning up the Christmas aftermath. It's good to be home and have nothing pressing to do.
