Ahhh ****, about pick up this little project.

Haven't been on here in a while, got all the supplies for the 408 clone, gonna start building next week I'll post some photos.

Also my mountainking heavy machine should be here in about three weeks

had a monoblock for years. awesome amp and sounded better than any SS Sunn or peavey i've ever heard. 2 ohms at full power and it never got warm. it is big though. the pictures always make it look smaller than it actually is. for $60 it's a steal I paid $250 for mine.

Going over our band "balance sheet" for 2014. I was actually quite shocked especially since we made less than $500 in digital sales of our last album. We almost broke even and that includes all the recording, mastering and vinyl costs plus all the expenses put towards t-shirts. From a financial standpoint we should be able to hit the studio again before the end of 2015. Just need to write another 4-6 songs first that can make the cut.

I'm at work, just buried in catch up work from being in the UK and trying to get ahead of the work I'll miss next week when I'm in Vegas for CES. Good times.

I'm at work too. Need to order some parts for the Jazzguarbird as I got it all together but had a wiring fail and realized I bump my hand into the telecaster pickup selector switch anyway. Going to do a normal jazz bass control plate and setup. I angled the bridge a good bit on accident but going to live with it since the strings line up on the fret board good. Acoustically the baby resonates awesome and that Jaguar neck is wicked. I can't wait to get it all wired up.

VEGA nowhere near breaking even when you include the studio time and mastering but shirts are paid off and almost sold out, limited run of cds is paid off and sold out, so im happy about that.

IF we can find someone to help pay for the vinyl, I can see vinyl of our debut plus a new album, not a double this time, in 2015. This is all granted were still together.

I'm working today and tomorrow. Why, I have no clue, there is zero work but apparently my brother scheduled a delivery from one of our vendors tomorrow morning. I will probably take off early today, I'm waiting to hear back from someone that's interested in buying my MIM Precision. That's great that you guys came close to breaking even, most bands I've known (even that tour) don't count the cost of making their record when they say they've made money or broken even. I've certainly never gotten close to that, I still have 7"s from my old punk band that broke up in 2008 gathering dust somewhere.

I took the body blank I made up last week out of the clamps this morning. I probably need to hit the face with a belt sander and flatten it out a bit more, that's what the chalk marks are indicating, where the high/low spots are. I am thinking about staining it and doing a wipe on satin poly type clear coat though, since the grain looks so nice.

Thanks Corey. Yeah definitely stain it as those blanks have awesome grain. I want to try a dark blue or dark green stain on the next body I get. Not sure how many coats I would need as I only did one black coat on the Jazz body and lots of brown still came through, but I dug it that look and stopped there. I think with a color other than black I would have to do two or more coats of artist oil. I am really happy with it and the tru oil. It just seems to resonate so much more like an acoustic guitar almost, like you can feel it vibrating when you pluck the strings. Glad I used that chunky heavy bridge as the paulownia wood body was super light and I thought for sure I would have neck dive but with the strap it balanced perfect.

I bought this liquid greenish umber wood dye/stain, higher end not the Lowe's stuff, but I am not set up to use it. I was going to use it on the 51 bass but I was afraid to mess it up. Would you like it Corey? I don't want anything for it and it is just sitting around. It's a quart sized or more maybe. Since you have the shop maybe you would have a use for it.

Even though I only paid about $50 for the lumber I'm using and I will get two blanks out of it, plus all the shop time is free to me, I would probably just buy a body blank next time I want to make an instrument from scratch. Making the body from the blank on is pretty easy and I can do it with all hand tools, milling and gluing up everything is a pain in the rear. I might feel differently if I had my garage shop set up already and could mill in there, but I don't even have a planer or a jointer anyway.

Yeah I forgot about that, damn, I bet I can't ship it. I will ask at the Post Office next time I am there. If I can it's yours.

You can usually ship paint and stain, you just have to ship it by ground only and declare it. I don't know if there's any kind of surcharge. I just know you can't do anything like Priority Mail, because they use air shipping and it's illegal to ship volatile chemicals by air in the CONUS. I run into that all the time when ordering touchup paint from our vendors for windows and doors, it comes by 18 wheeler from Wisconsin, with this huge sheet of EPA paperwork for a tiny whiteout style brush bottle.

Max do you know how much those Lucifuzz pedals cost?

My Bear amps Lucifuzz was $120. I think he might be preparing to do or recently finished another run of them. You can contact him through the Bear Amps facebook page to see if he has any left because i know he didnt make many of them and more than a few were spoken for. If he does have some left i recommend not waiting because hes talking about backing out of doing amp repair and pedal making because the amount of work for the money isnt great, so its possible that was the last run.
