Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

For my pine box stack I'm making I was thinking of a yellow finish, like to highlight the natural piney-ness without leaving it just white bare wood. Any suggestions for an easy to apply good grain showing durable finish?

Also the head is a 40 watt Bassman clone with an extra gain stage, so marshally vibe I assume?

I want to builds matching cab and it's largely going to be a guitar cab, but if I could, I'd run a bass vi or standard tuned p bass into it.
Not looking for crazy volume or bass response. For that matter I don't want to pay much for drivers or have to make a complicated design. I kind of want to do max's wooden front baffle with slits, like an old time radio if that isn't going to compromise things.

The heads only going to be 13.5" wide so I don't want a stupid huge cab either maybe 14"-16" wide.

Any suggestions?

I suggest heading down to Michael's with your fabulous self and buy some artist oil in the color that tickles your fancy. Then run over to Walmart and buy some linseed oil to use after the stain is done and dry to finish it. Or buy tru oil.

That slotted baffle that i did, definitely makes it less loud and takes a bit of treble off. But if its for low volume and who needs treble anyway, youll be fine.

pt nano assembled, adam fit snug under the board with the assistance of my stepdad countersinking the screws under the velcro. now i'm just waiting on the cthulhu fuzz, peterson tuner and perhaps, just perhaps, a HOF mini.

Well dang, that might be an issue. When I'm playing guitar in standard which this rig is for I am all about brash treble

Joe if I do tru oil can I do the colored artist (racist?) oil underneath it ir is it just a solo finish.

Yeah you do the artist oil first then put the tru oil/linseed oil over it. The artist oil is just linseed oil with dye in it. Once you dye colored, you never go back...

Well krampus must have went to my space while I was away over xmas, because my folded 18 cab works again... The replacement basket I got for the BW wasnt working right, it was fluttering or something. Well I plugged her in tonight and bam fluttering sound gone, maybe the speaker cone wasnt seated correctly on the magnet. But damn i forgot how good that cab sounds.

I got to run all my Peavey silver stripe cabs together...218, 1820, folded 18, twas glorious.

Now i just need to fix my 3620 clones crossover. And all my cabs will be working.

So gift swap landed me a magic bullet (as seen on TV!) and I'm happy. Also as a last minute gift mom grabbed me some big iron in the form of a cast iron skillet.Time to head home tomorrow and put some lard and collards to work.

Also to those who don't know, the Ov' glove (as seen on TV!)is incredible. I already have one and my mom has two, but I was cooking all day long and it reinforced just how handy it is to be able to use all your fingers in cramped high heat environs.

There are some wipe on poly too. And some wipe on stains. I don't have a garage or many tools so I have to stay with simple application and low smell as I have to do it right in the house. I like that I can lay down some cardboard, grab an old t-shirt, some rubber gloves, and get my rub on...then stain the wood :D
