Did I tell you what happened when I sold mine?
I was a little "non-plussed" about it. I mean, I thought it sounded OK, but not great the way everyone raved about em. So, since Ive got a couple other amps that I DO think are great, I sold it. Come to find out, it had a nearly dead preamp tube, and was only running on 3 of the 6 power tubes. GRRRRRR... the new owner was like "you should hear it now!!!". I feel sooo dumb.

It was a SVT-AV. so it was a real looker.
I used to have a Blackline SVT years ago, that made me DROOOOOL when I played it. Ive just been shy on 40 year old amps nowadays. It had been a while, AND my SVT-AV was a different model, but I was surprised how un-wowed I was. Now I know. duh.

I just hope it lasts this time. I had it with my Lakland P and the two Demons going, sounded exactly like the bass tone on HoF's 10,000 years.

Keen to downsize my rig soon to a lone 610 from my two 410 cabs. Too much to carry and way too much air being pushed for what I need right now. Was thinking of picking up a used Ampeg 610HLF just for the sake of matching the SVT but I just noticed the dude I bought the SVT off is now flipping his Berg 610 for a very reasonable price. Anyone have thoughts or experiences with Bergs in heavy styles?

Yay holiday break. I haven't been to work since noon Monday 12/22. Won't go back until monday 1/5. No traveling across the country to see family this year. I dis-invited my whole extended family so no stressful drama circus (other than what my own wife and kids create). Lots of time with the wife and two boys. Finally got to move along and complete some projects that had been hanging around waiting for love, such as
1) Baritone Guitar build


28.5" scale conversion neck by USA Custom Guitars. Body by Renegade Guitarworks, finished somewhat sloppily by me. 3-4 coats of Stew-mac tinted aerosol lacquer, 5 coats of Tru-Oil, done. Probably should have done a couple more coats of each. Just needs one more black knob, a nut, and some strings. Ibanez Tight End bridge. Railhammer pickups. Wired for ability to send pickups out independently via two outputs, or blend on single output. I plan on setting this puppy up for G standard. What are you folks' favorite sources for oddball string gauge sets?

2) Pedals!


On the left is a Parametric Overdrive, built from a kit by BYOC. Kind of like a tube screamer that lets you move the mid-hump around, boost it more or less, or even cut it. Sounds great, definitely a handy tool. On the right is the BYOC "mouse" kit that was a Christmas gift that I finished the other day. A vintage Rat clone that can mode-switch into Turbo Rat, asymmetrical clipping RAT, or three different overdrive flavors. Sounds awesome on guitar. Haven't played with it on bass yet.

3) Legos

My boys are 3 and almost 6. There were a lot of legos under the tree this year. This is only what we've built so far out of the new stuff

next purchase or build. Half/arsing it with the pitch fork now.
Hoping some parts for the bass build come in today since I am off till Monday.

I'm getting used to waking up whenever. Been off the same amount of time. Don't want the 5th to come. This is the first year of the observed divorce split during the holidays. Daughter and I are making the best of it this week. Hobbit and then some shopping. Kid needs cloths, stretchy pants just not cutting it in the winter.

As for the Baritone? Try Bass Strings online. He could also blend a custom set for you if you like. Invalid Link Removed
I've never seen pickups like this with bar and pole combination. Curious how it turns out. Don't knock yourself too much on the finish. The next one will be better.

Cool Pedal projects. Hope they turn out useful in the long run, best part is now your in tune with what it takes and can repeat or mod as needed.

As for the Legos... There needs to be more. You can never have enough legos. Keep those little minds building.

I was disappointed with Electric Wizard and Fu Manchu, but that was no surprise.
I felt that except for some really great highlights, 2014 was a bit dull musically for me.

been gone a while, unspecified self created drama, back to the lab, need a beats app that doesn't have loops that sound like 1992-93 techno if that's possible, got 5 hour breaks in the afternoon and i'd like to finish some more songs, looked at the black metal epicland tracks app, but i don't want to buy it unless you can slow it down really slow and bitcrush the stuffing out of of it, closing my art studio, cause i'd rather have a little bit of cash at the end of the month than operate on a loss, keeping the L2k, sb-2, and jazz as well as the mesa/orange rig and the dr q and rat tail, just need to get back on some sort of schedule and not get sucked into anymore hopeless situations in 2015, curious why everybody either wants to play sludge or hair metal right now
