That statement reminds me of buying gear on CL. I am up there myself at 42 but you go to these guy's houses and they are upper 40's/ low 50's and they got nice stuff but they all got it all no mids with the treble and bass cranked for a total slap and spank sound. They hand you their bass to give it a test ride and you are wincing because it sounds like a telecaster LOL.

Last night I Made dinner for friends and got drunk watching Mud. I made creamy spicy chorizo soup and veggie rice.

Today I've pooped three times what I'd probably deem is the legal limit. Raunchy...

I Found a replacement shotgun stock at this place in the metroplex that's crazy. He's like Rainman with gun parts and can remember everything he's seen or has in stock in 6 warehouses!? In fact he refuses to post stuff online because he claims he'd die before he got it all posted and it's easier to remember everything.

my current mode of gear acquisition is "sell everything you don't", so i'm being pretty ruthless in order to pay for some necessary items (road cases etc). the only two items i don't use every day that i'm keeping are my yellow DOD 250 and DS-1 because they're dirt cheap and good for home use, otherwise everything else is gone.

tour setup will be as follows:

4001 neck -> pitchblack -> bluebeard -> bass amp
4001 bridge -> cthulhu fuzz (once it arrives) -> guitar amp

Speaking of downsizing...

My new lady friend is big into singer songwriter stuff, so glad she has a decent taste of music not just top 40 junk, but that has me going back and listening to a lot of singer songwriter stuff that i used to listen too. This has sparked my jealousy for those types of musicians, because all they need to carry is a guitar.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, only a few puzzle pieces left to put together until Peavey Henge is done. This makes me happy but i do not look forward to lugging around 3 amps and 4 cabs. Though all cabs do have wheels.

yeah i forced myself into the downsizing for ease of travel, we're going over to Australia to play with Fuzzbassian's band The Underhanded (thanks s/d bassists thread!). it's made me think pretty seriously about what i need and what i use.. which is actually not a lot. i'm gonna love having a single road case that houses a pt nano, cables, and a perfect mold for the rick.

Nice are guys bringing amps and over as well?

And that flight case will work great for the eventual internation split and tour!

So we're hitting the studio in a month and I think we're going to record to a click for the first time. I'm a little nervous about it because our drummer hasn't played to a click in his 26 years of drumming and is more of a feel drummer than a technical one. The songs we're recording this time around are more technically advanced than some of our stuff in the past so I think it would be really beneficial if we can get playing to the click well so we can use it in the studio. Some guys have some stuff going on during our practice tomorrow so it's just gonna be a bass and drums practice to the click. Hope he doesn't get too frustrated, I'm hoping it works out.

Previously we always plugged guitars + bass straight into the board and played while we tracked drums. I'm thinking the easiest way for us to use the click is to record guitars and maybe bass to the click, and then have the drummer record drums to the click and guitar. What do you guys think?

I can see how someone that would like this, would also like OM. These types of songs (actually made it through the first one), just don't do it for me. Acoustic songs have to be something completely special for me to enjoy it. I can't even think of an acoustic song I like, at the moment. Maybe that one kyuss song...

I thought your idea of feeding click to the drummer and everyone else locking in, was the best. Someone with actual experience may say different.

traditionally drums to click with scratch tracks for everyone else if required, then bass, then guitars, then vox. if the drummer isn't so hot at it perhaps you do your bass to a click and he plays to that?
