traditionally drums to click with scratch tracks for everyone else if required, then bass, then guitars, then vox. if the drummer isn't so hot at it perhaps you do your bass to a click and he plays to that?

This. Though it could be difficult to play bass to only a click, with nothing else. Lots of practice would help, of course.

MAN!!! so Ive been playing my Jazz for months and was "in love" with it so much that I was ignoring my Musicman completely. This morning I plugged in the jazz and it sounded good but didnt quite do it for me. So I grabbed my Musicman and OH MY GOD did I forget how damn good it sounded!! What have I been missing??

Ive been playing my tube amps pretty much exclusively and my JGR preamp has been kinda sitting. I love it, it sounds great and is one of like 5 in the world, but it never sees the stage. Same thing with my Warwick Rusty. I play it a good bit at home, but it never sees the stage either. Its one of 11 in the world. USUALLY, when I dont use something live very often I make myself sell it and put it in the hands of someone that will. But both of these are so rare, that once theyre gone, theyre gone for good. I know its "just stuff", but its also awesome gear that's very hard to replace should I have another "musicman moment". If I sold em both I could have about $2.5- $3K. If I keep em, Ive got more cool stuff, that I dont use enough...

what would you do?

Unless you need the cash for a good reason, keep keep keep. Horde gear. If it sits for five years it'll be new to again in the future.

i would sell for gear you do want to use.

my current mode of gear acquisition is "sell everything you don't", so i'm being pretty ruthless in order to pay for some necessary items (road cases etc). the only two items i don't use every day that i'm keeping are my yellow DOD 250 and DS-1 because they're dirt cheap and good for home use, otherwise everything else is gone.

tour setup will be as follows:

4001 neck -> pitchblack -> bluebeard -> bass amp
4001 bridge -> cthulhu fuzz (once it arrives) -> guitar amp

You're going to open a portal to the netherworld with that setup. What amps again? (Too lazy to peep your profile on tiny phone screen, sry.)

Last night was a bit poopy. The guitarist in my band dropped the bomb that he's moving back to the States permanently in March. Big downer because we just got a killer drummer on board and were ready to smash into the new year with fresh ideas. The second guitarist, as much of a great guy as he is, doesn't really have the creativity that Old Mate Alabama has and just tends to kinda follow whatever he plays. Still wanna stick to my guns and keep the band running and find another guitarist but a lot of our sound was built around the guitarist's gear and effects. Wrote a few songs with his ZVEX and Strymon pedals which sounded HUGE. I just hope the other guys, especially the drummer, can be patient enough to stick around.

If all else fails, I was hit up by some dude out of town interested in starting a post rock/metal project. Haven't met him yet but interested nevertheless. Don't really want to work on two bands though...I can't commit to the time and travel this year.

On the plus side, I was finally able to crank the full rig last night at prac. The SVT is simply the best piece of gear I've come across and ticks all the boxes. However, my cabs definitely need to go. I could get away with them when I was using my smaller 350 watt valvestate head but they just don't do the SVT any justice. Gonna hit up champo in a couple weeks for his Berg NV610 and flip my two 410s on the cheap.

Yep, exactly how I play my acoustic guitars. DADGAD, CGCGCD, DGCGCD, love the power of open tunings. Also because I can't play guitar worth a rat's ass. But I would kill to get my hands on one of those new Gretsch White Falcon 12-string Rancher acoustics.

I could definitely pull off playing just the bass tracks to a click, I've already been practicing. Guess we'll have to mess around with it in the studio to find out what works best for us.

Maybe be fine but if you can work in a few drummer/click practices before then he'll do better. Sounds to me like he isn't comfortable.

The SB400 I had had afternarket EMGs in it; they sounded decent but kinda ruined the vibe for me so off it went. Would prefer a mudbucker pup, too. I've considered nabbing an old school one and dropping it into one of my axes.

Beebassdude did they are pretty rare. Epiphone version is more common.

That squier tele bass has a more honest true to form mudbucker in it stock than any post 70's gibson, any epiphone period or the model one.

I actually just bought a bunch of parts from him to build my Fuzzface and Rangemaster. Prices were better than anywhere else I could find.
