well, finland has some killer electro acts aswell, though that wasn't what we were talking about.
Norway is more like blackmetal, burzum and such.
denmark has nothing but a few indie-acts to offer.


and to the qotsa discussion, the early qotsa stuff was quite stoner(split ep with kyuss fx), the newer stuff however isn't.

yea, we're blessed here in Austin to have some very good acts right now as well as the ones that come thru.
if anyone gets a chance to see Tia Carrera (not the actress), they kick ass. Jason (guitarist) was in a band called Migas which was even better.
Also alot of up and coming talents all the time.

I think I've seen almost everyone of the bands that's one the Suckin' the 70's album here in Austin.

Speed Dealer is also an excellent band, i like thier earlier stuff best.

Just had to ask if anyone has heard of Death from Above 1979

Just bass and drums (although I hear more...?) This might fall into the StonerRawk category

This has been a great thread and I'm gonna go out right now on my lunch hour and see if I can find any of this stuff!

I agree Clutch is King. I started into Clutch 7 years ago and still listen to them weekly.

As far as pure stonerrock goes though I love Kyuss. They don't get mentioned too much in here and they are just a heavy sprawling monster. Anyone who like the stoner parts of Clutch will be blown away by Kyuss.

I only know the more commercial stoner band, Clutch, QOTSA, Monster Mag. I've heard some Cathedral & I would group them more with Sabbath who I also love. But they are an older sound.

It's always hard to group sounds and pigeon hole bands though. It's not so much about the sound as the spirit with stonerrock. The Melvin's even show elements of what I would consider stoner rock. I gotta go buy some new s@#$. Thanks everyone and hit pro-rock.com (Clutch's site.) New album in July by the way. Yeaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

So... it turns out I was mistaken greatly about Fu Manchu! At media play, I traded in some CDs, and ended up with a very small amount of cash, so I cruise the discount/used section. Brand new... for 99 cents, I got Fu Manchu's "No one rides for free".... wow, aparently back in 94 they were awesome! I think the major difference is the singer is more laid back. On California Crossing, I guess he gained the urge to start shouting all the time. This album is great!

I saw them a about a year ago when they put on a killer free show at a local blues club. Definitely see them if you can. The entire band is excellent.

Also, his brother Johnny killls on git.
