I would probably agree with that. The songs are catchier, still heavy as hell, and well written. I just prefer the rawness of the Remission album slightly more. But honestly, it's like choosing between Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's; you really can't go wrong with either.

I listened to Mars Volta a little bit and couldn't get into them much. Some tunes were pretty cool but not my cup of tea.

I listened to some more Leviathan and it's starting to grow on me pretty quick. I think I was expecting more like grindcore stuff and was put off on it but it's really well done.

I think Leviathan is amazing! The production is top notch. The whole Moby Dick concept of the album is awesome. And I love how the feel of each song varies, but you still know its Mastodon. Plus the guest vocals by the singer from Neurosis and Clutch are sick. It wasn't what I expected either, but I think thats why I like it so much.

Mars Volta is definitely interesting. I was real into Deloused in the Comatorium when it came out. Great Album. The new one is kinda hard for me to swallow. Too much weird ambient noise for me to get into.

I'm just the opposite. I think Remission is amazing, and Leviathan...I just can't listen to it all the way through in one sitting. I can listen to Remission all the way through several times in one sitting.

I'll keep that in mind. Leviathan bores me a tad. It's still pretty good though. Not as mind boggling as I've heard.

On the other hand, I just ordered "Frequencies from the Planet Tan" by Orange Goblin from Stonerrock.com yesterday. :hyper: I heard an MP3 on there and was blown away.

Hell no. I mean, not hell no as in "No, I hate you and the bands," but hell no, I'm going 30 miles an hour here standing still. The house goes on the market in a couple weeks, and I'm putting in a lot of time on a lot of little stuff (moldings, doing some tiling, scraping, painting, cleaning...). I don't think I can make it up.

BTW. The new Clutch album Robot Hive/Exodus is due out June 21st. I cant wait and there are rumors of a full length DVD as well!

On Topic: I have been listening to the clips of the Los Natas on Stonerrock.com and they sound alot like a heavy 70's era Santana.

Wow... Frequencies from Planet Ten is... amazing. THIS is the kinda stoner rock I dig. Weird/Floaty/Rockin'

I can honestly say, the first "stoner" album I bought IMO is the best.

Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity

If you are a fan of stoner, and you have not heard this album... do it asap. This is what set my picky standards for Stoner Rock.
