Can you describe the hum? Is it 60hz hum like thru a single coil, or does it sound more like a buzz? Does it change when you move around/face a different direction and/or does it change if you move the pedal around?

I had a bad hum coming from another preamp pedal, turns out it was the National Guard. Drove me crazy for awhile :)

It was the instrument cable I was using going out of my compressor pedal to my audio source. I have a 90 degree input jack with a silent plug, with a normal straight jack on the other end.

I recently picked up a Dingwall and only a straight jack will work so I just reversed the two ends.

Can confirm the Gain pot being replaced with an A100k Log is perfect.

Also, in my 4.0 version, because the ultra low switch worked backwards (ultra low was engaged in the down position and the ultra high was engaged in the up position) while i was in there replacing the gain pot to an audio taper, i also reversed the ultra low so that when it's in the up position it's engaged. now the ultra low and high switches are engaged in the up position. after these two changes i absolutely LOVE the pedal now. he may have corrected that in the later versions but my 4.0 version is perfect now.

I hope you like it as much as I do. I get the real SVT grinding overdrive I'm looking for without losing any bottom, when I want it, and it's a great clean pre-amp always on pedal. Looking forward to your review.
I can get any of my rigs to sound like this:

John

You brought back some memories to a Geezer.I loved the Gang. I'm a Super 300 fan also.I can easily get nice clean tones. And grit..nuff said.

Perhaps looking into one of these. Would a cab sim help out a lot, or is the fridge tone kid of baked in?
I love what the 300 offers.I use no cab sim and the sound is big and meaty.(even played through my PJB Double 4)The EQ section is responsive.A great amp in a box.IMO the only two other preamps I know of that can compare with it (or surpass it depending on your taste) are the Shiftline Flex and the Bassrigs SV,and both are more $$.
