How's it sound with just the piezo alone?
Did you get a chance to try a fretted version?

Piezo alone is a little thin sounding. I prefer the neck/piezo combo if I'm using it.

Played the fretted for a quick second at Summer NAMM, but didn't get one of those to review.

The neck felt fine; I didn't think about it at all.

I'm going to give the stock Chromes a try for a while, but past experience tells me I'll be shopping for non-flat strings for my H-II eventually. Would the short scale Pressurewound set work on this bass?

All of the GHS short scale strings have a 32.75" winding length, which will fit the Supro basses.

Thanks @Peter Murray! As a P Bass lover, the wide nut, “substantial” neck, and 19 mm bridge spacing should be perfect for me.

Just so I fully understand... on the H-II, when the tone knob is pulled out it activates the piezo system and becomes a blend (or volume?) for the piezo signal. Does this mean there’s no tone control with the piezo active?

Oh, and what flats are they shipping with?

When the piezo is turned on, the tone pot controls the amount of resistance the piezo element is seeing, which affects the resonant peak and overall frequency response of the piezo elements.

The basses come with D'Addario short scale strings--on the piezo models, they're D'Addario ECB81S Chromes Bass, Light, 45-100, Short Scale.

This is a good question. I went on the Supro website to look for dealers in my area and the one that was listed said they stopped being a Supro dealer months ago and didn't have any.

Not as far as I can tell. I've seen a few of Supro's guitars at GC, but not the basses. In fact, GC's web site doesn't even mention the Huntington bass; neither do Sam Ash, Sweetwater, or CME. I found a mention of the Huntington I on Zzounds, but they say it's no longer available. When I look at the list of authorized Supro dealers on Supro's site, the only ones in my state (California) are 400 miles away in Los Angeles (and all four of them are Sam Ash stores, so how likely are they do have something that their own web site doesn't list?). So where can I try out one of these very interesting basses without simply ordering one on faith directly from Supro?

Also, one question I have about these basses is, how noisy are the gold foil pickups compared to, say, a stock Fender Jazz or Rickenbacker 4003? I found both of those pretty annoying until I replaced the pickups with noiseless ones (Lindy Fralin Split Coils for the Jazz and JBE humbuckers for the Rickenbacker).
