Specifically, I am asserting that this product is not fit for purpose, and that they appeared to be denying any responsibility for that. I know different legal standards in different regions and courts govern the use of the word "fraud", but that was my intended use of it.
With snake oil power cords, audiofile magic RCA and speaker cables, and high capacitance guitar cables, it is an unrealistic expectation to think that enforcing any sort of performance standards or truth in advertising will ever occur in the audio industry.
I realize that you know this and were just frustrated by being treated like a little kid. You want to help, and the corporation doesn't care.
In reality, I believe that one could sell a device that offers very little audible change in an audio signal and still not be liable so as long as they offer a full refund.
I say good on TC for contacting you; quite honestly there is a school of marketing that would suggest they will not benefit from this. If you are right and the device was broken, they will receive bad PR for not having better QC, if the device just works poorly, then the reports will be that their products aren't good.
Many manufacturers would have just let this die on the vine.
* Don't think GK ever responded to the posts here about their micro amp teathing problems although they did offer outstanding customer support. Don't think Carvin repsonded here either but were very stand up with replacements; smart move to fix the customer problems quickly and not publicaly dwell on engineering issues.
* Mark Bass won't answer why they won't provide schematics yet comment on other amp questions; I wish they had the stones to just say it's company policy and not hide from it
* Monster cable has been criticized many times about their bass cables from EE's here yet nobody here has said anything about their CS; don't think they offer anymore than return it, which seems fair to me
* The magic power cord conversation has gotten so heated that threads have been either deleted or locked down.
Glad that TC is working with you Bongo, but it does seem like this has become more personal than professional.
If the product blows, say so; not your responsibility to offer engineering expertise or to try and change how they do business.
Since you do not get paid for your reviews, I doubt that you could ever be held liable for a bad review.
PS - I do really appreciate your reviews BTW; life is too short to worry about changing the audio world due to some dumb issue with a bad pedal; I think your review should include a brief description of defective units and dodgy CS though
