T.C.Electronic is dead to me. I now boycott them.

For the guys posting snarky jabs about others in the thread, or about the nature of the thread, please don't. You are not contributing constructively to this discussion, and your "wit" is not lightening the mood in the room.

Please observe that some people here have managed to express their disagreement or suspicion without being disrespectful--I appreciate them.

Food for thought--a line from my blog post: "One of their product managers did contact me today, after I posted this message on Talkbass and Facebook, so we’ll see how that resolves. But it should not take a “nuclear assault” from a customer just to get a response from a middle manager."

Thanks for this thread Bongo!! I was gonna pre-order a T.C. Electronics pedal tuner today and I just happened to come across this thread. I have now changed my mind and I will probably go with the Boss instead.
And for anyone who thinks these forums can't make a big difference check into Dr. Bass!!

Very well said, but I would also like to note that the "I just canceled my RH 450 order" type posts are not particularly constructive contributions to this discussion either. IMO, level-headedness is a somewhat unappreciated virtue in this forum (well, most forums really) and that is why I'd rather wait and see how this mess is eventually concluded before I start condemning TC, you, other posters or anything else.

I was not being rude at all. My posts on Bongo's dilemma are no different from the many others in this thread. And all I'm going to say on this is that Bongo wanted results and I publicly offered to help him resolve the matter. And he has not taken me up on my offer.

You should chill with the name calling.

Whats funny is I do not endorse TCE but that has nothing to do with me being able to help Bongo.

Endorse: to approve openly; to express support or approval of publicly and definitely (thanks, Miriam)

I can still back up everything I've said (and I have, repeatedly) including the names I have used to describe you, none of which are offensive.

Bolded for poignancy.

Mike
Except the "bolded" part is not nearly the whole of the situation, is it. :eyebrow:
If you want to spin it that way, sure it is. But you're taking one part of the complete reason and using that to say that the whole is "weird". For me, the "Eric Encounter" would be reason enough.
I'm not sure just Eric (he actually seemed the most...uh..."helpful") would have set me off, but once he got to ignorance twins afterwards...that was just ridiculous.

Yeah that's what the dictionary tells you.

I have relationships with people at many music related companies that I do not own,use or endorse their product. But I do have the age old classic friendships with them

If I did have an endorsement with TCE it would have been noted in the first post I made in this thread.

You continue to call me names is that the best you can do?

It's a pity. I've backed up everything I've posted, but if you're unable or unwilling to do me and this discussion the same service, it's not worth my time to continue this.

Definition 2b is normally how "endorse" is used in the musical world:

b : to recommend (as a product or service) usually for financial compensation <shoes endorsed by a pro basketball player>

TCE has lost me forever as a customer, and I will now make it my mission to let people know what a sheisty, lame, insulting, fraudulent company TCE is; and that TCE is entirely happy to sell goods that are not fit for purpose, and will not support those goods once sold.

Bongo, I gotta ask: Where is your evidence for the charge that TCE is a "fraudulent" company (your underlining)?

I totally get the bad customer service point, it seems beyond silly to have a CS representative who doesn't know the products. However, fraudulent (ie obtaining a personal advantage through deception) is a pretty heavy charge against a company whom, based on your posts, seems at worst to have engaged in horrendous customer service.

By your own account they said that you could take the pedal back to your seller for a refund. You might not like that they won't put you in touch with a product engineer, but that seems like a perfectly reasonable solution. Perhaps they have an arrangement with their dealers so that their dealers deal with all of the CS stuff to save TCE from having a large CS staff / department. If so, I can understand why they were directing you to the dealer. However, even if we accept (and I do) that you received the rough end of some terrible customer service, I am just not seeing the fraud you are alleging. Given that this is a public forum I would want to be pretty careful before alleging that a company is engaging in fraud (unless of course you have the evidence to back it up and just haven't disclosed it - which is why I ask the question).

Specifically, I am asserting that this product is not fit for purpose, and that they appeared to be denying any responsibility for that. I know different legal standards in different regions and courts govern the use of the word "fraud", but that was my intended use of it.

I'm in the same boat. Was gonna order one of those new flashy looking tuners but not after all of this. With business practices like that? I'll stick with Boss.

That's still a far cry from what you are alleging. Assuming you are correct, perhaps they just put out a stinker of a pedal here. Lots of products are flops. That doesn't make a company a fraud. Considering the weight and heft of so many other solid products that have been used for years, you've got to understand why some would get the impression that this is overly dramatic.
