T.C.Electronic is dead to me. I now boycott them.

What I've done in the past for bad CS is to find the names + mailing addresses of the company directors and write them a letter of complaint (not email), explain the situation and give the names of the people who messed you around. (In this case, adding links to this thread would make the case for this being bad publicity for the company in a difficult time.)

Sometimes nothing happens, but when it does, ---- falling from that great a height picks up quite a bit of speed by the time it hits the people responsible.

Wow. Email them a link to Source Audio's threads on here and show them how customer service should work.
Exactly! Or Genz Benz, or any of a number of companies that have eagerly earned my respect. Dave Koltai at Pigtronix always is personally the one who answers the phone when I call, and he goes out of his way to make me feel like he was glad I called. I am not shy about thanking and congratulating companies when they do the right thing, and I make it a point to give credit in public where credit is due.

A recent interesting example: I have bashed Aguilar kind of mercilessly here on several occasions, because of some of their product line decisions. I have called them names. Dave Avenius could have written me off as a nutjob, or called me names right back. Instead, he took it all with good humor and maturity. He took my criticisms (of at least one item) seriously, and he responded with positive action to correct the issue I was complaining about. That is how a company representative should handle a customer that has a real deal-able issue. And further, he was perfectly friendly and reasonable about loaning me a TLC pedal for review. I may not agree with all of Aguilar's product decisions, but by god Dave has earned my respect. TC could learn from him.

Sometimes I think about doing something like this but then I think again... why should I do them a favour? ;)

Well, last time I got a letter of apology, $50 and a satisfying feeling whenever I imagine what that particular CS monkey's next day in the office was like.

(I have to add, though, if you're going to do this when you get bad service it's only fair to do the same when you get exceptionally good service as well).

This thread is laughable. Not to belittle Bongo's experience at all. I total believe that everything he says happened actually happened, and am very sympathetic to his experience. That sucks, no doubt about it.

It's a lot of the negative responses that I'm calling laughable. "TC employee's are a bunch of *****", or immediately refusing to ever consider a TC product because of this one report.

Guys, TC gear has been in the upper echelon of respect for years. I have friends who work in studios in Nashville who swear by TC gear and the support they get from them. I carry my TC gear to backlined gigs, and professional sound engineers can't wait for me to use it JUST because it says TC Electronic on it. These are the same guys who always seemed a bit annoyed when I wanted to use other name brand gear instead of their backline equipment.

Write them off if you wish, but I just think that's a bit extreme based on this report. I'm ready to get flamed, so go ahead.

I think you want to be flamed, so I'll refrain. You're allowed to make whatever decision you wish and I won't laugh at you. However it has added to my decision to pass on TCE gear in the future. There are too many other manufacturers that have stellar CS records that want my business.
