T.C.Electronic is dead to me. I now boycott them.

This thread is laughable. Not to belittle Bongo's experience at all. I total believe that everything he says happened actually happened, and am very sympathetic to his experience. That sucks, no doubt about it.

It's a lot of the negative responses that I'm calling laughable. "TC employee's are a bunch of *****", or immediately refusing to ever consider a TC product because of this one report.

Guys, TC gear has been in the upper echelon of respect for years. I have friends who work in studios in Nashville who swear by TC gear and the support they get from them. I carry my TC gear to backlined gigs, and professional sound engineers can't wait for me to use it JUST because it says TC Electronic on it. These are the same guys who always seemed a bit annoyed when I wanted to use other name brand gear instead of their backline equipment.

Well, I think it's obvious that they've been doing something right for the past few years, and that they have had decent CS people in their employ before. We're hardly attempting to paint every single TC employee with the same brush (at the very least, I am not.)

When they hire CS people, people who represent the company to customers, they should make certain that they are people who will do everything in their power to help a customer, research a product, ask the right people if they can't find the answer in the documentation...etc. This thread and issue concerns a product that is currently being sold by major retailers, so there ought to be people there who are knowledgeable in regard to it, and there certainly should be someone there who knows one iota about how it is supposed to function and troubleshooting certain problems.

Once they represent themselves badly to one person and refuse to do the work necessary to get them the answers they want when we are certain the right people are available to answer them, I will not be in any rush to support that behavior. I say "they" to drive home the point that CS fully represents the company they are working for at all times.

Write them off if you wish, but I just think that's a bit extreme based on this report. I'm ready to get flamed, so go ahead.

So I guess if your an artist or work in a studio you get customer service ... but a no name like me is screwed?

I'll pass

Aren't you the guy that wrote off Dave Hall's products because they were too "cheap"?

Now that's laughable...

You guys at right. CS is important. That's my point. TC has a reputation for that. This is one incident, albeit a very bad one. Takes more than that for me to dismiss a company and accuse them all of being *****.

my comment was based on the information at hand - two of the 3 people that Bongo seems to have spoken with at TCE have been wholey unhelpful. Customer service is 'face' of a company for many people and as consumers we have a choice where to spend our money, sure all companys have their off-days but this is a great example of how two members of staff at a company that probably employes at least a hundred people world wide, if not more, have advertised their own company has being unhelpful and rude.

When I had problems with a B:assmaster - Josh sent me another for free with germanium and expression upgrades. I didnt even buy the faulty one from him direct, I bought it in a reputable london store.

When I has a question about a Source audio bass distortion (months before it was released) - SA got back to me the next day with a polite answer and told me it was in the pipeline and would be available soon.

word of mouth is the best form of advertising. and TCE just advertised bad customer service to a network of thousands.......even if every other member of staff at TCE is a dedicated, friendly, helpful and knowledgable member of staff as anyone could hope to employ (and this could well be the case) - Two who have come into contact with a paying customer have left a sour taste in the mouth of many on this forum.

I'm not offering to boycott them, but i'll find other things to buy instead.

I'm sorry if my original statement came off as immature but i think based of the sheer amount of contact Bongo has tried to make with TCE regarding this matter (unresponded emails, being told 'its not our problem' when it clearly is, being talked down to by someone who who almost certainly doesnt know as much about the subject matter -compression as the customer - bongo) that TCE have branded themselves as a company 'di**s' throgh the actions of two employees

Eublet, I'm not basing my aversion to buying from TCE on this single incident. I've heard a couple of somewhat similar stories from trustworthy people and I've heard other stories about some of their gear being unreliable. The combination of potentially unreliable gear and poor customer service is not something that will attract my money.
Not that I have any money to spend these days anyway but hopefully that is temporary.

No disrespect to any members here at TB but this issue will not have any effect at all on the sell of TCE products or the future of TCE.

TB really is just a microism of all things bass.

It might not have a massive impact, but it will have an impact. I don't think that anyone is saying that TCE are going to collapse based on this thread, but there are a few people here who have been put off TCE already by this thread, and there will be more in the future. Even if they only lose a few hundred $s in potential sales, it should still be enough to make them think, and maybe have a look at their CS team.

It wouldn't matter. By next year this time tb members will be celebrating the newest TCE product.

Not if the product sucks and TCE wont take responsibility for it.

Within the tb community other than Bongo, how many TB members have had complaints against TCE products?

Now think about how many TCE products have sold in the last 24 hours.

And lets not forget the TB members who could care less about a few TCE product complaints.

You said yourself that TB is a microcosm of bass playing world.

Yes I did. And I stand behind what I said.

If enough people have experiences like Bongo's it will catch up to TC.

No it wont( and no I'm not being sarcastic).

I think the only thing you're overlooking, is the fact that TCE isn't marketed to the average "I'll buy whatever amp/bass/effects" bass player. Yes there are two epically long thread dedicated to their new heads and cabs, but I think a big misstep can really effect a company. It's not like TCE is the same size as fender, or Roland (boss), etc. Also, people who think their company is above customer service is probably one of my biggest pet peeves.

One side note for JAUQO: I have gotten emails from about two dozen countries around the world, from people looking to my website for information and advice. People have linked to my site from guitar/music forums in Estonia, Spain, Czech Republic, all over the place. One TB thread may not echo very far, or last very long; and I individually may not be but a drop in the bucket compared to their established presence in the industry and their volume of sales; but my site isn't going away any time soon, and my ever-growing readership is worldwide.

I'm not trying to puff my chest for ego purposes here, just saying TC can actually do themselves some harm by getting on my bad side.

In other business, I have just added a post to my blog listing the companies that I know for a fact have excellent customer service. I want to push business to them.

I'm not overlooking anything.

This thread is not going to faze TEC one bit.

Bongo you and I can talk. There's a strong possibility that your site means nothing to TCE. If your site reached half the readership in the world, it will not have an effect on TCE and it's future.

Bongo maybe TCE was the only company in the world that never checked out your site and your possible influence in the effects community.

TCE will continue to market their product and soon get bought up by a bigger company and continue putting product out.

I think maybe it's time for you to flex your power and shut TCE down.

I don't know if the "shut them down" thing was a joke, since just a moment before you were saying it would never happen... I have no intention of shutting them down. My only intention is to make as much unpleasant noise for them as one person can make, and hope that one day it reaches the eyes/ears of somebody there who has influence on their customer service policies. That's all.
