Wow! Isn't that rather harsh? Lying is sort of relative.

I have had 2 offers since I started auditioning. However, neither had anything to do with this audition. I guess those offers don't count.

With respect; I think you need to chill, sir, and check your ego down a couple of notches. If you were really 'all that' you wouldn't be going to non-pro level auditions for startup bands. You asked; that's what I think.

Not at all, I am actually looking at this as a learning experience. Most of you think I was wrong.

Maybe I was. Maybe I am a little frustrated with age and being jerked aound with other bands and have become short sighted.

I am thinking that I should have told them, Hey guys go ahead and take your time with your auditions.I just don't think I am match for what your doing, Best of luck.

Guys, I am open to listening and maybe I made a mistake.

I am saying that under the circumstances presented, it is 100% clear he did not act professional.

Maybe I was wrong from the begining as I did not look at it as a professional opportunity.

Yes, I did side with Blue thinking the whole situation was honest and as I know it still could be. If he lied to the band about having another gig to pressure them into making a quick decision then I would oppose that...its wrong.

I think Blue is frustrated and pressured to get back to playing music which makes him happy..this I understand. Patience isn't always easy for some of us.

Ok, Lying was wrong.

When they wanted to extend the time they would give me answer I should have just said; Guys, I am going to pass on the opportunity. Good Luck

BTW, they never got back to me. Thats fine.But it really looks like a case of, we want to wait for our buddy (who looks like us and lives where we live) to audition before we reject you.

I think people are getting a little too bent out of shape over him telling them he had another offer on the table. Its not like he was sitting before congress for crying out loud. He tried to force their hand and it didnt work in this particular situation. No big deal really. Alot of people wouldnt have done that, but its not like anyone got hurt.

I agree and really cant blame Blue. He just wants to get back to playing and is trying hard to do so with the right band...thats not easy. There are allot of bands or people out there looking for bass players who want to waste your time and allot of start up projects are like this.

Blue, continue to dig around, look at the local scene to see if there are working bands looking for a bass player. If you are not finding one try finding someone to jam with to keep playing or go to a few open jams. You might meet someone there. I would slow down and find the right band then to jump at something you are not really looking for just to play.

Yes, I will be out visiting clubs this weekend with my GF, net-working, seeing whats going on.

Terry Bozio (Drummer, Missing persons, Jeff beck) is doing a clinic at Casios.maybe he's looking for a bass player:)

I'm confused. This discussion has all run on the assumption that the "other offer" you used as a reason not to wait for this band was a fiction. Did you have another offer you were considering or not?

I don't see how the truthfulness of "I have another offer" is relative. Either you had an offer or you didn't. Why did the other two offers not "have anything to do with this situation?" Had you already turned them down?

Anyway, I stand by my prior post, and those of a number of others here. If you're not into this band, just say they're not what you're looking for. No need to go making up nonexistent offers.

IMO, there's enough BS and lies in the music business as it is. There's no need to add more, especially when it's unecessary.

There's so many rants of people talking about being jacked around and being lied to on this forum, I find it ironic when posters talk about the lies they tell others.

I doubt they would get back to you.

If I were the other band and read your ultimatum, I would have either thought 1) Well he doesn't want to be in our band, so keep looking or 2) He's making something up to force our hand, and I don't want to work with a guy like that.
Lots of people wouldn't even waste their time on a e-mail for stuff like that.

It's not futile.

There's some who believe that all it takes for evil to rule the world is for good people to do nothing. The reason why there is so much BS, is because people are too reluctant to call others on it.
