TalkBass Trade Gone Bad

Where's the OP gone??
I think the more relevant question is, where has LAG gone? The OP did this thread months ago, and the matter was as "resolved" as it could have possibly been given the circumstances. LAG is the one who came charging back in to reopen this issue, blasting off a number of accusatory and hostile posts, and now he seems to have snuck back into the darkness. I don't really think the OP has anything else to say, nor does he need to. As for LAG...curious minds want to know! ;)

finish issues? we're talking about literal gouges in the wood, which never ever happened in a roadworn model bass. then there's the sharpie marker, which i wouldn't consider simply a finish issue. it's not like a bubble or scratch - it's sharpie marker, for goodness sake.

The finish issues could have (and should have) been handled quite differently. Let's assume that the factory -vs- non-factory added relicing was left for interpretation. LAG could have simply offered to untrade but suggest AJ reimburse for all shipping expenses. Yah, AJ would have been out a few bucks. However, he would have got his bass back. LAG could have used the subjective nature of the debate to save face and untrade with no out of expenses to him. The unwillingness to negotiate an amibcable resolution (and dissapearance + unforeseen ressurection) is what really makes like LAG seem like the big turd in this here toilet bowl.

the OP wanted to un-trade, but LAG failed to respond to his messages for months.

Is it just me, or does this entire thread make no sense? Why don't they just send each others basses back to each other? Neither is happy.

My thoughts exactly

Ha ha, these TB terms should be documented somewhere. Future generations need to know what it is to be Schwabbed and how to avoid it, too.

Being from across the pond, I'd never heard of this saying before. Now, thanks to Google, I am a tad wiser!

So. let's fluff this up again. Is the rod on the '51 really gubbed or what? And I am curious as to why there was no trade back. Seems the most obvious thing to do.

Ahh, that's interesting. I was referring to this SGD pickups : David Schwab's issues with taking money and not delivering | TalkBass.com

I didn't realise there is already an urban reference which, fantastically, means much the same thing as the TB context Schwabbed definition | What does Schwabbed mean?

It's a crazy, crazy world.
