I believe those are the same gauges. I don't mean to make the golds sound like there were super taught, they aren't, but for whatever reason the whites were extra floppy on my Fender. The golds are installed on my Kiesel JB5 and maybe the scale is different or the mass of the gold is more so the strings are less floppy. I liked the golds, but not the whites. I was considering more tapes, but I think I've started to fall back in love with flats. I have a set on a couple of basses as a trial. The tension is such that I may note keep going. Time will tell.

It does thanks! I also contacted Jason at bassstringsonline.com about the tension between the light gauge white sets. All the same gauge? All the same tension. I’d like to see how the Standard gauge Golds sound on my fretless but I don’t think the nut could support the larger sizes of the G D A and E strings. I know the B fits fine as it’s the same gauge between the light and standard sets.

Yeah I have, I first noticed it with the D'addarios and then I put on La Bella Gold White Nylon .050-.105 I like these a lot better but they still aren't quite right on this bass (LTD B4E with Bartolini Soaps and Preamp). I had a set of La Bella Copper White ordered but after 5 weeks it hasn't shown up, it seems a lot of folks are out. I think I'm going to be putting some rounds back on this bass. I think these strings have potential they are just on the wrong bass in this case.

Thanks, that explains why i got buried in the mix whenever i used the labella black nylon tapes , i really think they should use nickels under the tape to give a bit more midrange emphasis

Yeah it really depends on what you are playing. There is a bass cover of Sade's Kiss of Life on youtube by a guy using a P bass with Lollars and La Bella Black nylons. It sounds really good but that music isn't meant to pop; Denman's lines work with true economy in support of the song while not being crowded out by the other band members.

I think the copper whites get closest and a lot of people seem happy with those. I also felt that the tapes lacked sustain which is fine for a lot of music too. I have a PJ bass coming and am going to swap out the pickups I may try the white golds again on that bass just to see how it is different from the one I had it on.

1st time trying tapewounds (D’Addario etb92s). Replacing old stock strings from my used epi eb0 (2001....old dead rounds that i do strangely like compared to new stock eb0 in store [too metallic bright]).

So far like em. Getting used to the new feel. Soundwise think it improves sound of stock sidewinder pickup especially with rumble40 with vintage button on.

Still want to try other string types but these are keepers.

Now there is a time and place that looked a lot like now when I was there but from where I write this looks like forty years ago that ...

RotoSound and RotoSound and RotoSound because that is what everybody and their dog is playing. Rotos seem normal to me, and I'm digging the howl from my new StingRay, but not digging that the special Rotosound magik is gone after a few rehearsals ....

On to the venerable Dean Markley Super Rounds and happy to tell anyone who will listen the Dean Markleys hit the spot.

The bass takes a long nap while I see to what is mine to do in life. Looking to tame the 'Ray a bit, well not really, tame the characteristic howl, and DR Neons are just what I have in mind. Slap on the neon pink ones, and I've got a new Ray.

New is what's going on and now with a very clear idea of what I want in a bass and in a bass tone: a sapphire blue burst Chowny CHB-1 is now mine [humor] and I will love him and squeeze him and will cal him George [/humor]. The bass comes strung with D'Addario strings and hey it sound pretty good.

Still not quite what I want and I'm on the email carousel with @SLaPiNFuNK . Determine from my measurements the bass wants medium scales. In a day or three, a new set of D'Adddario nylon tapewounds (TB rule: no photo, no nuthin')

Had no idea how rockin' these tapes would be on this semi-hollow body.

Kind of wondering about those white LaBella's now with no BSO ..... :bawl: These tapes are going to stay on this bass a long time....

Placed my last order with Bass Strings Online today- a light-gauge set of La Bella White Nylon Tapes for my Squier Fretless Jazz (to debut at Christmas).

Can’t wait to get some Tapes on it and sad to see the end of an era (BSO).

Still LOVING the 5-year old D’Addario Tapes on my Ibanez Acoustic!!

I just put a set of light gauge White Nylons on today. Still getting used to the near tension free feel of them. I had to jack up my action to make it playable. Might want to order the heavier gauge but I really do dig these strings. Maybe I’ll save my hands years of abuse if I leave the light gauge on. Definitely pleased with the smoothness of feel and overall tone. Wished I’d tried these much sooner.

Yeah, I appreciate that, but I feel that removing a set of brand-new strings is half-way to destroying them... Uncoiling the winds at the tuners, pulling the strings back out through the tiny anchor holes in the bridge.. that's a fair amount of abuse for an expensive set of bass strings. Asking for opinions is just a way for me to hedge my bet! :)
