TARA Labs cable challenge!!

I'm a registered professional engineer. I know enough electrical theory, as well as personal experience, to know that your power cable has absolutely zero influence on the amplifier's output. None. Zero. Zilch.

That's my professional opinion. If you think it can, produce one single shred of credible scientific evidence to back it up. Otherwise, in my professional opinion, you're selling a useless product.

Now, if you want to sell this power cable based on its solid construction, or lovely appearance, or some other factor, that's great. I have no opinion on its construction.

Hey Nashvillebill,
you still haven't answered my question, have you tried one? Just a simple yes or no is all I am asking. If you haven't tried one, then you really don't have any personal experience.

Hey John,

Have you ever been to the moon? Are you sure it's actually there?

What they are getting at is that the answer to your question proves nothing empirically.

This is turning into another mud slinging contest. I don't think anyone on the pro-cable side would say we are talking about a night and day difference between the cheap and boutique cables. Subtle enhancements are the best one can hope for. About the same as different brands of tubes, for instance. The anti-cable folks are unwilling to give one iota in their case because they feel if you can't measure it with instruments, you can't hear it. Forget about auditions, they are unnecessary. This strikes me as most unscientific, because I thought the investigator's intellect is an important investagative tool. It is sad that the results of the test are almost doomed to failure unless some of the opposing camps have had their preconceived notions turned upside down by exposure to the Tara power cord.
As an aside: One day, the power outlet I have my audio system plugged into went out, which is in the same circuit as other household devices. I ran an extension cord to another outlet that was part of a new circuit with only the bathroom lights on it. I was unprepared for the diffence in sound I heard in the system. Less grain and hash and a noticeable increase in detail. I wasn't "hoaxed" by the temporary setup, because I had no expectation of any improvement.
Even if you can't measure something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I try to be open-minded. However, I've worked withe electricity all my life. I know how power is generated, transmitted to the house, then distributed to the receptacles, I've wired houses. I've also experimented with electronics and in addition to the theory, I've made amplifier linear power supplies. So I've got enough background to form my opinion.

Unfortunately the test results probably won't influence many people. The believers will still believe, us skeptics will still doubt.

But if you want to blow your hard-earned money on a power cable, be my guest. If you want to believe, be my guest.

Woodboy, you did know that you plugged it in somewhere else.

No one is saying you can't "hear" something, just that it's probably not real. If you can hear a difference; a real difference, with you ear, then it can be measured and proven. If the tests come back proving Tara cables are not a scam, fine, I just want to see real evidence.

Oh but they are claiming their is a night and day difference. If you go back and review previous posts you will see claims of improvement "like a blanket being lifted off the cab" with the Tara Labs cables.

having other appliances load the circuit is very measureable. when i built my studio i put the studio on it's own circuit.

So, when you thought you heard something, and when you thought you did not, you put that degree to work and measured right? Did you switch the cables yourself?

actually, i allowed other bassists and non-bassist musicians to listen to the results, in multiple settings. remember, i did this for the instrument cables, the speaker cables and the power cables. :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

I don't doubt it. When you play a bar, who knows what else is in the circuit with your amp; the ice maker, an air conditioner, the juke box? I haven't tried an exotic power cable on my amp, but maybe what they are doing is filtering the junk on the power line and keeping it from being amplified?

I say we put a deadline on giving out our results, if bob isn't ready by then, IMO it shouldn't color his review anyhow, he is going for scientific bench tests and such, in which our opinions aren't go to change his findings anyhow. I CAN'T WAIT (sorry pete) for the arguments to ensue after that lol.

I am ready whenever the majority (testers) here feels it is time, this sucker has drawn far past schedule.

+1

I'd like to suggest a stickied, locked thread so we can just read the results and not have to wade through tons of crap.
