I don't think I'm even capable of scrounging up enough ambition to force my brain to contemplate something so insignificant as the precise level of taste of Kurt Cobain signature shoes.

However, I am curious about one thing. Is anyone here planning on buying a pair of these shoes? If fans of Nirvana are offended by the idea and non fans of the band have no reason to buy them, who does that leave as a market? Does anyone think that some collectors are going to snap these babies up by the caseload as some sort of investment?

This whole thing is just plain S...T...O...O...P...U...D... .

Seriously, there are so many signature/image shoes right now, this is one of so many, the difference is for some reason this Kurt shoe has attracted attention, probably because Converse now are available at Target and Kurt is the biggest. TUK have done a whole bunch of them where they liscence images etc., my wife got me a pair with "Sid" embedded in the sole... IN THE SOLE!!! Go to band websites, Converse, Vans, have made limited edition shoes for just about every EMO band on the planet. It started with The Misfits logo and went from their I think.

Although I like all the "people who commit suicide are worthless trash" comments. Some of us who have had loved ones kill themselves don't feel the same way.

and people who have serious thoughts about it don't feel the same way either. People don't kill themselves for kicks and giggles they do it to get away from the things that pushed them over the edge.

Exactly. My aunt suffered from ALS for years. So she said her goodbyes, and took a lethal dose of morphine. I had cousin who suffered from depression for decades and finally just had enough. They were good people, not selfish a-holes.

for what it's worth, Kurt had family members commit suicide over about 3 generations, including a close uncle I believe who stabbed himself and failed, then turned to the gun for help ( I could be wrong on the exact details, I'm trying to remember his biography). The act had been demystified, sanitized, as hard as that is to believe. Add to that a debilitating addiction and it's a bit of a time bomb.

The producer of "Bleach" has commented that in retrospect he realized Kurt "reaked of suicide"... but sometimes you never realize, like my high school friend Dave, who hung himself for reasons he took to his grave. That was a Saturday morning I'll never forget.

I certainly don't feel people who commit suicide are worthless trash. To the contrary, all people have great worth. I have great sympathy for family members who have had to endure such a tragedy. In the end though, it's a completely selfish decision. I've been with family members who have just had a loved one commit suicide. I've picked brains up off of floors and ceilings. I've told parents their child is gone. Again, I'm very sorry for someone's personal tragedy, but what someone who commits suicide does to those he leaves behind is worse than anything that has been done to him.

The pressures of fame and fortune might be different for Kurt than her dad, but that doesnt make Kurt's (or anyone else's) suicide any more "right" or understandable. Suicide is not a thing to be taken lightly, but it's the cowardly and disrespectful way out of a bad situation. Get help, talk to somebody, turn your life over to somebody else's hands for a while if you cant manage your issues.

Sometimes people do go get help but it doesn't always work... yes suicide is bad for the people close to the victim but sometimes its just to much and "help" doesn't always help :\

that said, having known many depressed/suicidal folks - at the end of the day, if they're not happy in this world, then i have no right to demand or judge that they stay here if they think they'll be happier somewhere else.

A lot of people are saying that suicide is selfish. In some cases, it may be. But you don't know what those people are going through. They may face indescribable misery every minute of every day. They may have tried to get help, which failed. In some instances, the family would rather that person basically live in hell, just so the family could still be with them, rather than that person end their misery. In that case, it sounds pretty selfish to demand that the person stay alive.

I'm glad you've familiarized yourself with the situation of each individual on earth, amassing a vast knowledge of what they've done, what they've been through, and what their life is like. I only wish I had a way to collect such an immeasurable quantity of information, to allow me to make sweeping generalizations.
