TC Electronic BG250 Club (Part 2)

I bought another this afternoon for 7.99... There are some much bigger dollies...and straps for transport...
Always buy the right tool for the job.... Tough to buy the wheels, bolts, nuts, and carpet for 7.99...

I just got fired from my current band, and that project proved to me that I'm gonna sell my big gig rig: Ampeg SVT-3 Pro, two Hartke 410XL cabs. I may also sell my practice rig: an old Hartke Transient Attack 210 cab and a GK 800RB. The replacement for that is gonna be the 210 combo, and now that I'm reading it can take an extension cab, I'm sold. I'm already using TCE pedals, so I'm familiar with Toneprint and how cool that is. Plus, one of my former bandmates works at GC and can get me the hookup on it. Why was I lugging those 85 pound cabs and 40 pound racked head again? Besides that it sounded great and looked cool...

Where are you reading that a 210 can take an extension cab? It cannot. The 208 is the only combo that can take an extension cab as far as I know. I've thought about combining two 210 combos (an amp in each) for those times 2x10 isn't enough.

TC-E stuff is really good. I got a BG120 112 for our keys player used for a killer price and am nothing but impressed with how it sounds for live keys and the occasional bass application. For gig-shlepping, it's light to carry and has plenty of presence in our live mix. And that's straight basic, not really used the Toneprint options. I also bought a new 250 head and run it though an Eden 2x10 for the keys at our rehearsal space. Very small/light and kicks ass for keys (have yet to try it for bass - but I'm sure it would also KA there as well!)

Apparently I misread that. Seems a little odd that the 208 can and the 210 can't. Fix that, TCE!

I actually did that for awhile using an AB switch , combined a 115 and a 210 stacked on top, both on their sides stacked with a thin cushion in between. Actually thought it worked well, however tweaking two amps to sound right together with the controls on sideways got to be a PITA. Ended up selling both for a Rumble 500 with the 210 extension cab. The sad part of the whole experience is that most of the time I either run direct no amp, or I have the Rumble barely on with the bottom cab not even hooked up direct out to the board, sound guy controls FOH. Really kinda wish I'd just kept one of them although I'm perfectly happy with the Rumble .

I had a Rumble with the 12" speaker for a while. I didn't mind getting rid of it. The sound I was looking for wasn't in there, apparently .

Apparently I misread that. Seems a little odd that the 208 can and the 210 can't. Fix that, TCE!

The 208 only uses half of the amp's wattage, leaving room for an extension cab. The others already output the full 250W by themselves. That's why. Nothing to fix.

MOAR IMPEDENCE! IMPEDENCE ALL THE THINGS!!!

I bet at some point TC makes more of the line extension capable. Its about the only thing they don't do, and its not like there aren't mondo power class D amps.

I had exactly the same setup with an ABY switch and sold it for the Rumble 500 and the 210 extension cab too.

The Fender seems way louder and the only thing I miss is the built in tuner.

Hi i have looked through a rake load of threads and can't seem to find the info i need. Maybe some of you in the club might be able to help?
My bg250 115 has a high pitched hiss when the treble is dialed up. Is that normal for this amp?
Would replacing the tweeter help with this?
What wattage is the tweeter or better yet is there any tweeters that would be an upgade over stock i cpuld replace it with.
Any info would be appreciated cheers

I enjoy taking things apart and upgrading them but have limited knoledge on tweeters and know when I'm beat. So for sure if I cant get properly informed pn the matter i will take it to my tech

That last post was a mess ha. Good question. I think with the bass plugged out it still makes the high frequency noise when the treble is turned up but ill double check tonight. Its not the bass though as i have 5 with every combination of pickup, mostly humbucking. And it occurs in all venues so its not an earthing issue. Especially as it occurs in my house and i know the earthing is good cause im a sparks

Yes it is not necessarily the bass but also the cabling or any pedals you might be using that could be adding hiss that the amp would just be amplifying.
So it is an easy test, if it does it with nothing else plugged in, you know it is coming from the amp.

Right so the noise is a high pitched frequency which occurs from the tweeter only when the bass is plugged in with the treble on the amp and or the treble on the bass is turned up. The cables are new fender cables, no pedal and on 5 different basses. Its definitely the tweeter making the noise. Should i replace it?
