TC Electronic RH750 ???!??

The only downside to the design IMO is that if you aren't using the foot controller (which has a tuner display built into it... slick!), and have a single cab (i.e., a cab(s) that doesn't come up to eye level), the overhanging protective lip on the case prevents you from seeing the tuner when you are standing close to your rig without bending over.

Bingo! On the Berg AE112, this is a definite issue. My simple fix is to tilt the cab up with a 1" riser (read "piece of wood") and that gets it to a usable angle. I also prefer the projection from the cab at this angle. The feet of the RH are sticky and hook up on the handle so the head will not fall off the cab.

Tuner is very similar to the pitchblack. Reasonably fast tracking, decent accuracy but not true strobe (fine for 'on the gig tuning').
It's not a strobe tuner at all, let alone a "true" strobe tuner. :)

But I agree with your assessment. It's very good, but if your amp's face is hard to see, clearly that's an issue unless you also have the RC4.

Seconded. One of the reasons I chose the TC is the onboard tuner. In my goal to eliminate all pedals, having onboard tuner, compression and tube emulator.

Um, correct. As I said, it is not strobe based, and does not have the accuracy of a strobe tuner like the Turbotuner, and does not track as quickly. Remember, strobe has nothing to do with a mechanical wheel like back in the day. The Pitchblack, in 'strobe mode' is just a display option, and is not based on a true 'constant tone/strobe' criterion, like the Strobostomp or Turbotuner.

Take it easy, I was just ribbing you for using the word "true" because that's a hot buzz word in the market of tuners who actually claim to be strobe type.

I know the other TC thread has your blood going, but... :)

Interesting!

Did you stack them with the front edge of cab aligned or back edge?
Did you try it with the back edges aligned? I'm assuming you're talking about that acoustic tilt thing Uffe was referring to in the video. I tried that and didn't really hear much difference that I couldn't simply attribute to the top cab being a little further back and simply being that much less off axis from me as a result.

:D

Yeah, lots of tuners have 'strobe mode' now, and just wanted to make clear there are actual strobe tuners available in a pedal format that are extremely accurate:)

I like the tuner in the TC heads. It's pretty fast, and seems to match up pretty accurately with the Peterson StroboRack VS-R I also have in my rack case. The VS-R is a lot slower at tracking, however...

+1 Tracking on the Peterson units is pretty poor. Those are not very gig friendly, although they are almost as accurate as the Turbotuner for benchwork, where tracking isn't as much of an issue.

I was doing a session for a Dallas songwriter yesterday and was recording my bass direct to the board. I was trying to use a couple diff ones of those clip on tuners and they just suck :) I finally pulled out my RH750 and plugged it in just to tune. It's a really good tuner, imo.

Yes, great tuner and it is amazing having it built in like that.

I do however miss some indication of how far off the tuning is - some blink or stronger LED or something to tell you that you're getting closer. Like the wheel on the Turbotuner that keeps slowing down until it stops when you've reached correct pitch. Not a biggie, but it would have been nice.

In mute mode it has a an LED showing you how close you are. Is that what you mean?

+1 This works great for muted tuning so that you can get in closely. Also, the foot switch has this functionality whether muted or not. There's a bar under the note that shows you how far off you are.

No kidding! I haven't seen any bar, will have a look later. Live and learn. :) Like I said, it's a great tuner. ;)
