AH250 GP12SMX. Recording session, went to plug a 1/4" into my tuner out as the DI doesn't work. Plugged it into the footswitch by mistake, blown the preamp or something nasty no lights come on but the main fuse is intact and the fan still goes.

Wish me luck and or any advice what to look for when I open it up. There were no pops or sizzles or smoke so hoping I got off lightly.....TBC....

OOPS

Dammit, I say ... Dammit Boy! - Foghorn Leghorn

I'm considering getting an AH600-12 and a 1048H cabinet. Eventually, I will add a 1528 aswell, but is this a good pairing? I intend to try them both when I go to the store, but I was just wondering if anybody had this setup or had any advice?

Also, does anybody run a 1048H cab with an Ashdown ABM500 head? I'm trying that aswell as I currently use an Ashdown combo and though maybe stick with them, but we'll see who comes out on top :)

Positive thinking from Cali on this!
thanks,

when powering on there is the usual wompf followed by usual low level background hum and hiss so I'm guessing the power amp is ok. But very scary having no indicator lights come on in preamp or when trying to switch in the power amp. Dead as a doornail.

No illumination on front and no power getting to the valve either. Just the fan going and the sound of the amp idling. Spooky.

Question, prompted by the latest round of 'do I run my pedals thru the effects loop?' queries over in Effects - one of the few 'official' documents I've been able to find for my AH130SM is a .pdf of what appears to be the generic GP7SM owner's manual. The section that mentions the front-panel effects send/return jacks says (quote)...

"The signal level of this loop is -10dB, put in simple terms this means that the level of signal coming from the EFFECTS SEND [emphasis theirs] socket is about the same as that coming from your instrument so any effects unit that works directly from your instrument should work quite happily in this loop."

So (and here's me being probably dense) this loop is at instrument lvl (ie - pedals), rather than the line lvl that I thought most loops are set for (ie - racked effects), and I could run my pedalboard thru this loop if I so choose?

That would be the obvious conclusion yes. Just beware of putting anything other than a real McCoy footswitch in the footswitch jack or you wind up with a ghost amp.

I found a schematic which seems to be for mine, more or less, but it's dated a couple of years after mine was made. Good enough to aid an amp tech in sorting out mine? Brit Audio Service sent one email asking me a couple of questions and then disappeared.

Evidently I was wrong..... Per the "what SM series amps have the tube preamp"...

I thought there was a tube "valve" in the AH1200SM... NOT! I was thinking of the AH600SMX I had for a while....
In my AH1200SM, what I thought was a tube is actually the ballast for the Black Light. It's buried in the back and almost obscured and looked like a small 12ax7 tube....OOPS.
