Not exactly what i was asking about, but very close. Glad it sounds good. I'm pretty sure that adding a 15 cab will help out.

Do you find any volume issues, as in not having enough, when running both cabs?

I would say the opposite is certainly true. The combo's power amp won't deliver the full 500w output at 8 ohms, and total output with a bass amp is also about moving air around - the 2 x 10s just have too little surface area to move your pant legs properly. I really suspect that the 8ohm 410 is the way to go when coupled with this amp for 6 x 10s, but I got this older 15" for a proverbial song so I can't complain. I'd angle for a 410 if your wallet (and back) can handle it. :bassist:

I finally found the guts to request a number so here's my current stack! GP7SM250 with a 1524 cab. I may upgrade for tubes some day but it suits more than my needs by now. Killer tone for the buck!

OK Trace Bretheren, I need the help of those more knowledgeable in Trace equipment.

There is an 1153 in the classifieds right now which would match the one I already have perfectly and set me up for any possible situation. If I had the money readily available it'd already be heading my way.

As life does sometimes, I've been thrown a curve ball:

I've been presented with an opportunity to buy a combo amp that I think goes perfect with my 1153. the deal is good enough that I've already gotten over my OCD about it being covered in tolex while my cab is the luxurious Trace emerald green carpet. However my concern is whether or not I will actually be able to use it with my cab at all.

The amp is a GP7SM 130...130 watts into 8 ohms and 250 into 4 ohms if I'm not mistaken. I think I found the manual online which is attached as are photos of the amp I would be buying.

Help!

The gentleman I would be buying it from says he doesn't see an extension speaker out. There is one speaker out which is connected and goes into the cabinet for the built in speaker.

This news of course got me curious so I started looking through the manual and the description of the back panel doesn't mention any speaker out that I can tell.

I can get pics of the back panel of mine up later today if you want, but mine has two 1/4" outs for cabs, each labelled 8 ohm (big help there, isn't it...) along with a 1/4" tuner in. I just now looked at the .pdf you linked to...that may not be the same one I have (I found mine on the British Audio Service site), as I seem to remember it talking about speaker connections on the back. I'll look it up when I'm on that computer this afternoon (again, huge massive help here, isn't it?).

Trace did seem to have a habit of occasionally slapping together one-off combos out of whatever they had laying around at the time, and so I guess it's possible that they did a head/cab combo with only a single 4 ohm out. Note however that I am not claiming to be THE definitive expert here...only thing I can think of off-hand is to actually go look at the rig and see what's going on in the back. I'm wondering if there's some way to connect an extension cab in series or something...

Thanks for the offer but it sounds like your head definitely has the two parallel speaker outs and the combo amp I'm considering buying may or may not.

I'm going to ask him to take a photo of the back panel for me. I'll update when I have the photo.

Thanks for your help.

That's weird. I don't think I've seen a Trace combo that doesn't have two 1/4" speaker outputs. For what it's worth, they're just wired in parallel with some bare solid wire connecting them. Assuming the combo is 8ohm, you could always drill a hole and toss a second output jack in there...

... or you could buy my monster 1210H-SMX combo that's in the classifieds here currently... I guarantee that it's got a second output jack!

I should have jumped on your 210 when you first listed it and I had the funds!
