You should just get the matching cab and forget the combo. Surely you have a head you are using with your current cab? And I'm guessing it's a lot more than 130w (even conservative Trace watts).

Great review. I have a head from a 1210 (sadly got damaged in a fall though and I haven't had a chance to repair it yet), and it is a killer head. Really makes you wonder why these modern Traces aren't more popular.

Just read it. Nice article (save for a couple of typos). I've had a 1210 combo for several years and can agree with most of your eval, though I had some weird things happen from time to time (no sound output, solved by power cycling) and a less-than-solid overall structure. OH, and I added Ernie Ball casters to mine. They really ought to offer that option from the factory; this amp is too heavy to lug around by the handles.
I have seen several posts that allude to the carpeted original Traces as being more desirable than the later Kaman diamond tolex models. Can anyone shed any opinions on the Kamans vs. originals.
Also did the original cabs use plywood instead of the MDF " boat anchors"? (That in itself would make the originals more desirable to me and my back.)

I have 2 cabs that are supposedly from 1990 (according to the first owner who I bought them from). They have both have a sort of textured tolex covering and are made of plywood (not MDF).
Hey guys, I recently just picked up a nearly mint 300H from the classifieds here. I haven't had a "standalone" bass amp (that I didn't have racked, etc.) in quite some time.
I was wondering if anyone knew if T.E. made slipcovers for these things back in the day, or possibly made sizes to fit them now? I wonder if I could get one made, as it shouldn't be that tough. It just would save a lot of little nicks and scratches here and there both on the amp AND on the inside of my truck when loading in/out, so yeah.
This thing is great. I used to have one about 7 years ago but it was kinda wonky but this one is clean as can be and sounds friggin' huge with my Mesa cabs and 55-94. Just the right amount of saturation and quick attack.
Also, can anyone verify for me if the EQ is the "noon is flat" setup or the Fender style circuit? I have it setup how I want it now but just figured I'd throw it out there!

Perhaps you can call Shane at British Audio Service and see if they still have any NOS Trace Elliot vinyl covers... I purchased several for my Trace Elliot gear but they seem to not be on the website now.

I dont know but both of my pre carpet 94 1153's and my AH1200 case is MDF (with the exception of the ears that hold the head). Here is a pic of the head's case before it got re tolexed.
Tom this is my same Live Rig set up. I use A 1210 combo into a 1048 cab and also was a original TE user.
I owned and toured with one of the 1st AH250 heads 410 and 115 cab they made. What I appreciate is the inside electrical craftsmanship is still there with the new TE gear.

What year is yours? That case looks to be the same shape as the one my '94 AH130 is in, and I was pretty sure that mine is plywood...until now. Gonna take a second look at mine later on.
Sorry i put the 94 in the wrong place, the head is a 94, Im not sure what year the cabs are. But they are all made of mdf, which really doesnt concern me that much, theyre 20ish years old and nothing catastrophic has happened to them yet! If your really want to know what its made of, if it has spring loaded handles pull one off and you can tell real quick! BTW I posted this in the other thread but here is the case after recovering:
My head case has a screwed-on 'suitcase' handle.
I can pull the amp out of its case easily enough and see what the inner surfaces look like...I don't think they tolex'd that part of it.
