Team Trace Elliott Pt 3

I never understood why amps should be lightweight. Lightweight cabs are 40lbs, why shouldn't an amp be? You can carry that much in one hand tbh.

My Trace Elliot wishlist:

- Lightweight cabs would be cool if they pack celestion tone.
- Presets in the amp head which recall gain, ss/valve blend, pre-shape, EQ state in/out and dualband comp setting. Three or four footswitchable presets would do. Yes indeed I use multiple basses.

A new Trace Elliot all tube head on the other hand would also be very interesting.

I'm all for presets. I use four different basses. At this point, I have presets for them all in my Line 6 BassPOD XT Live. That works out okay at this point; I just have me Trace amp set up pretty flat and with a touch of growl and the Line 6 handles everything else.

I've been thinking, though, that I may want to ditch that and just have a couple of pedals in the effects loop. For that, I would need some presets on the Trace.

By any chance would any of you know what would cause an EQ Balance knob to not function properly? I have a GP12-SMX and the eq balance only works towards the treble side, but as I turn it counterclockwise the volume slowly fades till it cuts out completely? I looked at the board and nothing looks fried and all the solder joints look great. I'm totally flummoxed

That's got to be this one in FL:

As I told the buyer, the low pass has gone awol. Might be the balance pot if you're lucky, cold joint somewhere, bad crossover, if you're really unlucky the low compressor has crapped out.

A tech can trace the signal around and either fix it or tell you the bad news. I posted the schematic at the end of the previous page. If you print that off for your tech he won't have you to charge you for searching for it and love you forever.

A new update on my stack, I'm now using a Trace Elliot 220 as my main amp.
I'm looking to sell the GP12XV + RA200 now.
Cabs are a 1048 + 1513 + custom made rolling case.

Hi, just asking for confirmation. The compact 15 with the ports not piercing the grill is 1513?

I've been looking for info on my compact Trace cab for a while now, as all the sharpie was worn out as I got it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks DU; I printed the schematic. Now I just have to find a decent tech in south fl. Crossing my fingers in hopes that it's a simple fix!

Wow.
I play in a hair rock tribute show right now.
I've always taken my Ampeg SVT to the gigs... It's a CL which I loaded with NOS preamp and poweramp tubes
It sounds killer, best I could get for this kind of mix, right? No!
Enter the trace elliot V8... Incredible. More of pretty much everything as required (and with a matched set of JJ KT88s) You name it: low punch, grinding mids, sweet highs
My V8 is the amp that makes the gigs now... Only downside Ive found, there can be a bit of noise in the DI, does anyone know if I can do anything to fix that?

PS: I'm playing through a Berg NV610.

Why? Because I can ofc.

Between the two, the SMX sounds better. Valve stage is warmer, comp is much more neutral then the AH300 12. Both are killer amps though for what I play.
