EDIT: Arrived today.... PRELIMINARY REVIEW STARTS ON POST 69

These are just becoming available in the US. They are distributed out of New York.

I just ordered a 500 to continue my fanatic interest in small, powerful amps. The 500's are due in the US mid September. They look interesting, and seem very high quality. Tec is known for clean and transparent, which is definitely my thing.

We shall see. Since I wasn't that familiar with this stuff, I thought I'd put up a teaser thread for my fellow 'small, light and loud' TBer buddies.

It's pretty much the same size, weight and power as the LMII.

Here's a picture of the 500. The 1000 looks awesome also. It is 500 per side and only bridgable into 8 ohms. I think the 500 should have plenty of ooomph. We shall see!

The front end is nice and basic like the LMII.... bass, two mids, treble. It does have a control that seems very similar to the Timbre control on the Thunderfunk, basically revoicing the amp from the lows to the highs.

Cool, havent seen much info on these.

I was very interested in them a few years ago, but they were 220 operation only at that time. So, I think they are quite new to the US. Another TBer (I can't remember his name, but I'm sure he will show up here) just received the Puma 1000 and was raving about it. He was the one that made me aware that these are just becoming available here. The 500 is in the price range of full size 500 or so watt amps like the Ag500, the original TF550, etc. So, more expensive than the Genz and MB offerings, but not totally 'break the bank'. I believe the 1000 (with the massive power, compressor, and all that stuff) is closer to Walter Woods territory price-wise.

Hmmm ... bridgeable into 8 ohms, eh? Meaning a superlight powerhouse for the 8 ohm Carvin LsX1503 3-way cab I'm using now ... hmmm. ;)

Although 1000 watts is overkill. And I don't have any money. But a fella can dream, can't he? ;)

Looking forward to your review of the 500. Cool gear!

Cheers,
Liam
