I bought this one in May (2008) and then sold it again in September. It was a nostalgia purchase, as I had a black one of these as my first bass, but I didn't have much use for one now.


I still have this (bought in July this year) though ...

It's really nice to play and I like the look, but to be honest, the range of tones is very disappointing. It has a lot of low end, but it's very hard to get a bright, biting sound from it, even with the brand new Rotosound Swing Bass strings that it has on now :hmm:.
 
My '87 MIJ 62 RI purchased recently from hemitom.

I added a custom nitro tort guard from Pickguardian and swapped out the pup's for model J's. It came w/ stack nobs but I actually prefer the trad arrangement so the original guts were put back in. It has cloth wiring in there too! Very nice build and in primo shape. I am a sucker for this color combo, it reminds me of an old Corvette.
