I finally got to take a pic at our gig last Saturday. I'm completely blown away by this combination. I was always told to turn up but now I was told to turn down! I can finally keep up with a loud drummer and my brother's Soldano SLO.

Just picked this puppy up last night and played a gig with it 4 hours later.

Last night I had the master volume at noon and the gain at 9 o clock on my 700rb-II and it was just insanely loud - and I play in an insanely loud metal band to start with!
I'm young, and my back is still good, so that means i'm gonna be playing 810's for a looooooong time comin!
2 SVT 810's and a Peavey 412? Good Lord... i'd hate to move all that around!

I've been playing for 25 years. I played through Ampeg for 9 years. I got rid of all of my Ampeg stuff to get a GK 1001 RB-II and the SWR cab above. Sounds cleaner than the Ampeg because of the tweeter, and it has the same speakers. Compared to my current rig, Ampeg sounds muddy. That's right. I said it! Have you ever heard a stereo without a sub and thought "there's something missing"? Same thing, only the inverse. There's only so much you can do if there is nothing in the cab to catch the other frequencies.
Guys, don't be afraid to stray away from Ampeg. There's plenty of better sounding gear out there. Judge with your ears, not by the name on the label.

I've actually consciously steered away from them after being warned against them by many local bassists (due to reliability issues in the early LOUD years). But after I started getting into tube amps, they're almost the only things that I play.
Sounds phat has all the punch you could ask for with nice highs with out the harshness of a tweeter.
