Official leathers tester and crash dummy
Went into the store today expecting to pick up a small Fender Rumble 100 and they had the new Acoustic B100C there those classic models with the tilt back. As much as I loved the warm nature of the Rumble, I went with the Acoustic because I ended up liking how it sounded and looked more. But I think I give the Rumble the edge in the OD section which I don't really need but being able to blend in some OD with the new Acoustic Model is pretty sweet. I'm extremely impressed with it considering i really disliked the new MkII models that have been out. I rocked an Acoustic B200 for years before i started bypassing the preamp entirely after some time. Sold that and now I've been wholly impressed with this new Classic Acoustic Model.
had a Wagner era B220 couple years back. It was ok, lots of power but I had a hard time dialing in the tone I wanted.

Bill can you explain what was missing or just different from older ACC voicing?
2 Eminence 1518 drivers.
I recently had to replace one and was surprised to find out that's what they were.
After much input from fellow TBers I decided to stay with the originals and not upgrade them to the CB158.
The cab and driver combo with either my 370 or 140 heads produce that punchy growl I love.
I think the question was asked in reply to the picture of Bill's 106, that is loaded with drivers with aluminum dust caps. JBL 140s is my guess
Most likely they are Altecs as @Andy Coconut states. They have the tell-tale black dot centers. Standard equipment for the time/cab.
always seemed a muddy or muted, no matter how I eq'ed it. Just was missing that early ACC warm wash of power & tone combined.
in my 106, the original Altecs but in this cutie, when the original speaker popped last year I did put a Eminence 1518 in it.

I got flamed for this before, but that 106 cab has a dusty grill cloth.
I have dusted them before with semi-gloss black spray paint to bring them back to life.
Remove the grill frame, remove the acoustic badge. A very light uniform dusting of semi-gloss black.
It's good if ya like them dusty too!

Here's what I pulled out of my 106.
I'm a player not a tech so if anyone knows for sure what these are (or were, again Im a bassist not an English teacher) please post.
Thanks very much for posting those pics, you've added a new data point for me. (Nerd alert!!!)
The earliest 106 cabinets (at least through 1971) were loaded with 15" drivers that were stamped with the Eminence part number (15FABA6B). Your 1973 driver appears to be the exact same speaker but is stamped with an Acoustic house number "13 14", translating to part # 130014. Your pics are the first time I've seen that 130014 part number.
Late in the generation-2 era Acoustic began loading the 106 with the venerable 130040 speaker also made by Eminence with a similar looking cone but featuring a white dust cap.
